Last time I went to Carlisle was when Nat open the new stand for them in a friendly...open terrace and all

They are unfriendly bastards there... I lived there for 12 years

Nah if I was going to go all that way Id have to tick the ground off my list too. Apparently a drummer enhances the atmosphere there, I bet it doesn't.

No drummer at Town - banned on Health & Safety grounds (I'm not joking!) The ground itself is about 2 miles from the station so not all that far but there's a half mile walk to the pubs from the Greenhous Meadow. Brooklands or Charles Darwin. I'd say make a night of it as the town of Shrewsbury is lovely. The stadium itself is decent enough but nowt special. That said, worth going for the cottage pies are home baked and bloody lovely. See you there (I've only missed two home games in six seasons there so any chance to catch the Whites is fine by me).

The last time we went to Shrewsbury, Bolton fans weren't welcome in some pubs but we found one called the Three Fishes, in Fish St (i think ), it was ace (i think ) . Shrewsbury is a nice place though.

It seems there's a beer festival with live bands on in Shrewsbury, same day as our friendly !!

The public school there is one of my clients. Fuck me, it's posh. Nice folk though.

The one by the river? They have a sister school here in Bangkok. Its fucking eye wateringly expensive.

I deal with the Marlborough college here and Malaysia too. That'd bring a tear to your eye too.

one more thing about Shrewsbury - and in particular, pre-season games - fans repeatedly give these a miss due to high ticket prices (usually a tenner). So, I would guesstimate around 1500 home fans at best for this one. In the past, West Brom, Wolves, Birmingham & Stoke have all been well represented. I think Blackpool brought about 200 a few seasons ago.

Is there any parking near the stadium, Salop ?

No stadium parking (permits only). However, I think the Brooklands pub allows car parking on a basis not disimilar to the Beehive where you get your parking back on a pint/food. Also, the Charles Darwin - a similar walk but right out of the stadium, not left - wouldn't be exactly rammed for a friendly and they've a decent car park. I am willing to throw out my permit to the highest bidder mind (about 50 yards tops from players entrance)
