Moderators Carlos Posted August 31, 2013 Moderators Share Posted August 31, 2013 Anyone got it? Advert says they've got loads of big games, starting with Man City v Hull! Michael Owen has been described as like listening to paint dry and putting the dull into dulcet tones.
Traf
How Owen got the job after being so shit on MotD is beyond me.
Marc505
Is Owen actually a co-commentator on games? Baffling. Mind you, anyone watching Football Focus? That shirt of Dion Dublin's...

bwfc87
How Owen got the job after being so shit on MotD is beyond me. Just the name isn't it. One of the best pundits imo was Lee Dixon on MotD 2. BBC missed a trick not promoting him to the main show and they've lost him to ITV

Whites man
Well worth it, especially as so many folk can get it for free. The previous thread in it has an explanation from the Malcolmatron about fixtures, later in the season Sky will be flogging Crystal Palace v Fulham for all it's worth. frank_spencer
They've fucked up my Saturday evening viewing by getting rid of ESPN america so I'm not their friend.

snowball
Decided to get it for the college football which I got into last season, sad I know. Live Bundesliga was a bonus as well and they will probably have some top premier games later in season. Don't have to sign up for long term so can bin it off if its crap but am really getting it for ESPN which is equivalent of old ESPN America. Like you say it's a wait and see thing.
Sweep
BT Sport isn't too bad at all, especially as I get it "free" in my Virgin package. Michael Owen is awful though, and I would imagine he'll be axed by Christmas. The HD is very good, and seems to look better than some of the football that I've seen on some of the other HD channels......I don't know why this would be though, so maybe it's just me. snowball
Yeah that's why I checked first. No Game Day today I can see but still enough live games to make it worthwhile. LSU v TCU from Cowboys stadium and Alabama's first game but only highlights of Clemson v Georgia unless I'm mistaken. Think theres a Florida State game on midweek as well.I don't currently have a landline so BT Sport isn't free for me, £15 a month (in Hd) on top of Sky, might cancel it when season ends in January. Monday night NFL would have made it better value but it looks like that's hidden away on BBC red button for the foreseeable.

First impressions (Hull v City) totally agree. Very good HD picture (did the obligatory comparison to the SD picture, massive difference) and Owen is excruciatingly boring, your spirits sag every time he buts in. frank_spencer
I like the addition of Mark Halsey to add the ref perspective. One of the 3 in the studio will end up on co commentary soon.
frank_spencer
I've got game pass so don't miss the MNF anyroad. No idea why the beeb don't put it on a real channel I can't see it negatively affecting viewing figures of their channels at that time. frank_spencer
Totally agree Frank, you going Wembley to watch the mighty Steelers? If I can get a ticket for a reasonable price then yes. Our group of mates has a steeler fan and a niners fan in it so whilst everyone was deciding what game to go to they both sold out. Im even tempted to book on one of the Thomas Cook travel packages
