  • McNaughton has been very good in our last two away games.   I suspect some are calling him old and slow on account of the fact that he's got grey hair rather than the fact he's 31?

  • no, i agree   but even if we get relegated we have to keep him   we have to give him the time to build his own team   he can't fully do that until he gets rid of the high earners, its not as if

Fancy Danns?

Ha ha! An open goal.

The goal came from mcnaughton thinking the ball was going out and the Wednesday player chasing after it, from then we were all over the show

He then got nowhere near closing him down

To be fair to mcnaughton, he's Been solid the previous two games so I think it's harsh to be too critical.

Somebody touched on this earlier but I think one of our problems is the lack of pressure we put on the ball.

We sit back and this allows teams to dominate possession. Wednesday didn't really create much but they had a lot of the ball. DF might be happy with this strategy but against better opposition we will get punished.

I think DF needs to pick a system that suits the players because this way of playing is restricting our better players.

Surely we have to beat Ipswich?

We didn't last season. Home or away.

Like it or not Dougie's game isn't pressing high up the pitch

We give ground away from kick off every week, which tells you how we're going to play

You could see it frustrating Beckford yesterday; he'd close a defender down, only for the defender to easily pass to another, that's free leaving Beckford's work redundant

I don't like it myself, but it I most certainly Dougie's game

But he's been here for a year. Surely there should be some semblance of a plan by now?

No doubt he has a plan but its not working yet whether he has another way of playing I am not sure and I'm definitely not happy with us giving the likes of Yeovil and Sheffield plenty of ball sitting deep and trying patiently to pinch their pocket and try to win by the odd goal he is giving these teams too much respect and they are thriving on that and gaining confidence because were not exerting any pressure on the ball and were not spending enough time in the opponents final 1/3rd because of this tactic.

There was a spell yesterday in the first half where they had about 20 consecutive passes without much pressure.

We eventually got the ball back when they tired and ran into a dead end.

This seem to be the plan most of the time.

I accept there are times when we should play this way especially away from home but at home against most teams I don't like it and I would go as far to say this tactic will end up pissing off the home crowd and unless results improve he will rightly end up sacked.

Anyone with grey hair shouldn't be playing pro football

Thems the rules

Oi! Ravanelli lit up many a Football Italia Sunday for me!

I get depressed and jealous at the moment when I watch matches where a team looks to have a clear game plan from the off. Sad times.

Regardless of yesterday's match, and his fine shot-stopping, Bogdan doesn't command his goalmouth let alone his area (goal or penalty). Hoppy, at 5-9 (give or take), must be spinning in his grave.

It's depressing on this forum and other Whites forums (fora to the Latin scholars) to realise as of yesterday at 5pm that there's now almost no dispute about how sh*te we are in almost every aspect of team football at this level. A playing squad good enough on paper for a strong promotion challenge; a team on the field that is every inch a relegation contender as things stand. Somebody at the club has to take responsibility very soon - players, manager & staff, directors, chairman or owner, I care not.

I am normally slow at coming round to the correct way of thinking but I now believe we don't actually have many good players. There are many cheaper and better alternatives for this league and I believe a long rebuilding process needs to begin. Something I'm sure Dougie is aware of.

Positives from yesterday were another good cb pairing performance. Beckford looking to have found that confidence. Chungy looked a handful when he came on and dare I say it Eagles looking to lay people off in the first twenty (he's still crap though)

Having seen the goal on tele not too sure how it has been derived as Bogdans fault. He must of believed Baptiste was clearing his lines?????

No Tom, apparently the moment any ball comes into the 6 yard box, he MUST immediately claim it. Apparently.

he doesn't come off his line for crosses

he doesn't command his area

he's not vocal enough

he goes down to easily

just four of the things fans at every club up and down the country say about their goalkeeper

'we don't score enough from set pieces'

'we concede too many from set pieces'

the worst left back iv EVER seen at this football club

the worst right back iv EVER seen at this football club

when they lose playing 442 - '442 is outdated, why aren't we playing 433'

when they lose playing 433 - 'why aren't we playing 2 up front'

Can you imagine the outcry if we played a false no. 9? Tactically naive.

Bogdan should be being congratulated not slated after that performance,

Something was definitely up with Eagles, not just the fact he was shite but he wasn't his usual greedy self, didn't want the ball, hid all match, may as well have not been on the pitch.

Mills and Ream very good again

Baptiste is so poor at left back, hardly his fault though out of position. We miss the outlet going forward as much as he is getting ripped by their wingers.

Beckford finished very well, just needs the service and he'll do the rest (apart from that effort in the 2nd half), I'm actually surprised at how many of the high aimless balls he wins too. If he starts every game to the end of the season he'll get 15+ goals.

Has Medo played for Sierra Leonne during the week? He chased shadows all game, worst game i've seen him have for us, worse than Blackburn!

The whole midfield was shocking, Wednesday ran the midfield all game. We were second to everything and were outmuscled by a team of absolute units, I'd never realised how small our team are either, there's only really Mills in that team yesterday thats a presence.

One thing I don't get is why we are so clueless with every dead ball, goal kick, free kick, throw ins, we have no idea what we're doing, seen as Dougie seems so precise and detailed with everything else I'm surprised that they're so aimless.

All that said if Kirkland doesn't pull off a world class save to Mills header then most of this would have been forgotten and we'd be moving up the table nicely.

I keep saying it but if we beat Ipswich next week then it doesn't look too bad, 5 games unbeaten and 9 points from them, big if though.

Criticism of Bogdan withdrawn for the goal after watching it again. Ball was right on the six yard line and they had two strikers in close proximity.

Oh, and Dave Jones is an utter ballsack for saying the red card was a "perfectly good challenge".

He also said he didn't fiddle kids

I think Sheff Weds sussed us a bit yesterday. We have a small centre back with two small holding midfield players. You don't need to be a genius to work out how to challenge that. I really think Medo should be played further up in the midfield and that we should either play a 4-1-4-1 or that Ream should go back in to central midfield for a 4-2-3-1.

I'd also advocate getting a left back in on loan and trying out Baptiste in central defence - which is his natural position.

Well aye, he's aware hence feeney, lieutenant danns, McNaughton etc

Though they are the ones who weren't standing out and your positives are probably our higher earners

There were a few times in the first half eagles ran and chased and got some blocks in, actually thought we were decent first half hour and carried a threat last ten, was a bit toss in between

he did play medo further forward for about 10 mins before the subs.

freedman is certainly a 'set your stall out' type manager, which is fine as long as you break with aggression on the counter attack.

There's fuck all flair or bottle in midfield. We need a per frandsen who will also bag a few, that's where we are caught out. As for eagles fuck off you soft cunt. Too busy shagging around

But he's been here for a year. Surely there should be some semblance of a plan by now?

We are showing some "semblance of a plan", it just isn't quite working... yet.

Anyone blaming Bogdan for the goal should seriously stop watching footy. Lad kept us in it all game yesterday.

Too many of our players are hot and cold - ace one game and dogwank the next. I would challenge any manager to handle that.

My "blame" lies solely on the players, and those alone.

They clearly have no respect for the manager, now it's the directors job to makes some tough decisions
