Moderators Casino Posted April 23, 2014 Moderators Share Posted April 23, 2014 Horwich RMI Harriers organised the event. They should be told about that. Litter from events really annoys me too. By the way, was the 'littler' picker thing deliberate? ;0) did a fella called parker win the vets?
leigh white
Seen some strange sights up the Pike over my years on Good Friday, blokes throwing home made spears at a dead sheep was one.

Compo
Went for a ride over Rivvi this morning now all the townies have retreated from whence they came. Happened upon two gentlemen making an effort for St Georges day, not sure if it was successful or not as I couldn't see it looking up later on. Big City Girl
It was family, they were up there for ages but it was too windy. Trying again next year.
Compo
Nice to see someone making an effort, like I said to them though I can imagine the amount of idiots wondering why the flag would have been there today.
Big City Girl
I was waiting for the photo all morning but sadly they didn't have the right gear. Some pics on facebook of the attempt and it would have been visible from Blackrod. Shame. Edited April 23, 2014 by Big City Girl
birch-chorley
Might do that fell race next year Isn't the record time something ridiculous like 15 minutes from the crown to the top then back again?
Compo
Some of those fell runners are fucking animals they never stop, I'm up there all year round in any weather and regularly see them at night in the middle of winter on their own.
SatanGreavsie
I was waiting for the photo all morning but sadly they didn't have the right gear. Some pics on facebook of the attempt and it would have been visible from Blackrod. Shame. That's a phrase that should enter the lexicon of the English language! e.g the Queen entertaining the Pope on a groundbreaking visit Pope: "Well your majesty, I very much appreciated the beacon of hope and reconciliation you lit on the top of Windsor castle. It shone a light into the heart of the Christian world" Queen: "Indeed, I heard it was of such fortitude it was visible from Blackrod" Pope: "I seriously doubt that your majesty, there's cloud over Shropshire" Queen: "Look, if I say it was visible from one part of my realm, then it was" Pope: "Fuck off, I'm the fucking Pope me, I'm fucking infallible"

Traf
Bolton has very few, if any, notable landmarks. Le Mans Crescent and the Town hall are excellent architecture, but are they landmarks?

DazBob
Does the Winter Hill mast not qualify as a landmark?
Youri McAnespie
Landmarks? Swan Lane Mill, Falcon Mill and some of the other mills can be seen from miles away, The Marcroncana (doesn't work, does it?), Parish Church, Trinity Street Church, Clarendon Street School used to be a landmark before it was flattened, erm...Raikes Lane Incinerator and the Royal Bolton Hospital Incinerator Chimney (nice!) - there used to be a tower on the old Hollins workhouse at Townleys that was visible for miles, they flattened that too, Barrow Bridge Chimney, The Holiday Inn/Travelodge down River Street... That big paper mill up Tonge Moor, various Mosques, ... I'm struggling after that, well we we're struggling before to be honest. Youri McAnespie
There was a communications mast near where Hawthorns Nighspot/dive used to be, that's got lights on it (or had) - therefore is a nighttime landmark.
