Nottingham Forest FA Cup 3rd Round 1967. Got beat 4-2. I went with Jimmy Ramsden and his dad (RIP).

Great day out and got Jim Baxter's autograph - which I subsequently lost.

Bury with my dad in early eighties. Stood in Manchester Road end amongst Bury fans. A young policeman asked my dad who he was supporting to which my dad replied " I was born and lived in Bolton for 25 years and I've lived in Bury for 25 years...where do you want me to stand the fucking half way line!!". Young policeman walked off without further comment.

Your dad sounds like a bit of a dick.

My first away game was an FA Cup game at Nottingham forest in 1967. Wanderers took a massive following which there seemed no segregation, there were wanderers fans in every section of the ground.

We lost 4-3 that day and was the first time I was involved in footy agro. As a young lad I was an easy target and took a few wild thumps. That welcomed me to the football world that I never knew but grew up to know.

Sheff Utd away in 77, sure Greavo scored 2 pens, went with my dad and his mates.

First one on my own, Preston on a special from Bolton, must have been early 80's as I was still at school.

Being in an escort for the first time aged about 14, shittin myself, kickin off all over the shop.

Took about 3 hours to get home, people pulling emergent cord all the time and setting fire to the bankings.

No mobiles in them days, my mum was worried to buggery, got back in about 8.30.

I am a dick.

But I tried not to let people know that immediately.

The first impression you've created of your dad is one of an obnoxious bell.

Notts County away, I think it was the opening game of the season, Aug 1980, we lost 2-1

I remember the Preston game mentioned earlier, think it was a lunch time kick off and got called off, by that time Preston pubs were full of Bolton

Well that failed.....

For what it's worth my dad comes from a generation that was able to go where they wanted in a ground without segregation and so took objection to being asked who he supported as in his mind it shouldn't matter. Like you he speaks his mind.

The question wasn't put "friendly" hence (rightly or wrongly) the response.

As Carlos says you would probably get your collar felt these days but he didn't.

Remember a Grimsby lad outside the Submarine calling KZ from Great Lever a half caste cunt, to be met with the reply " I'm not half caste, I'm black!!" As KZ proceeded to knock him on his ass.... could only have been from a Bolton not reet that
