Pre Season.

4games confirmed for July, Macclesfield, Rochdale, Tranmere, and Port Vale, none of them very inspiring, but suppose it's about getting them fit.

Beckford getting hammered on twatter for the performance so far

Even if they are dicks, is he still playing badly?

It's not completely his fault in fairness as he's never going to make a lone striker and needs a big bloke alongside him as we saw last season, but there have been two or three occasions tonight when the ball has been put in to the six yard box where he's supposed to thrive and he's just not done it. I'm not writing him off already as such, but it's hardly encouraging after showing similar traits last season.

2-0, Wilkinson. Cracking strike from the edge of the box when it didn't look like much was on and only been on the pitch a few minutes. Good lad.

Cheers Matt. Good info

Beckford will prob join the list of players the local idiots will hound out

Their number 14 Bastein has had a good game

I think he's more an on the shoulder striker rather than thriving on crosses, which he is more than likely to get with two out and out wingers in Feeney and Hall. He's definitely disappointed since joining and wasn't brilliant tonight. It's just the singling out by a couple of morons, almost determined to get a reaction from the player himself.

On a more positive, thought we looked extremely good down the right. McNaughton and Feeney combined well.

Just back, must say I was quite dismayed at the level of abuse Beckford got in the corner I was in. Fair play to the bloke who stood up and had a go at them for it then had to put up with them taking the piss out of him for the rest of the game. The scene reminded me of the Pratley situation at Crewe last pre-season.

His substitution was cheered by these people, then they were chanting "we want Joe Mason back". Presumably they were also the ones booing Mason himself last season when he was employed in the same one up front role as Beckford was tonight. Who knows.

Was impressed by a few things we did, a couple of players looked lively. I did notice a tactic we used a few times tonight when Lonegran had the ball, that our two centre backs would go very wide apart from one another and Spearing or Medo would drop in to take the ball from him and try to play it out. Spearing was caught out doing this in the second half as Rochdale must have cottoned on. Must use this tactic sparingly.

Boobs

Thought Feeney looked better as one of the three rather than right midfield. He left Riley quite exposed in the lead up to that sitter they missed late on.

Thought Moxey was quite solid though, liked the look of him. Was nice to see the balance we had at the back with him and McNaughton as they'll both have their work cut out in defence in a 4-2-3-1.

Vela did well in his little cameo as well.

Was there any fighting outside the ground

Anyone who goes to a pre season friendly and abuses a player like that needs to stand in front of a mirror continually shouting I am a cunt.

Jsl.

Good night at Spotland. Yes beckford was shite but very isolated. Promising link up play between feeney and mcnoughton with danns coming in from the middle. Thought we was at a most dangerous through feeney and danns.

Just as I commented on our defense looking solid they got a free header in our six yard box, shite. Same happened second half.

The usual mistakes you hope to see in a friendly and not the opening game.

I'm not too disheartened!

If I had one wish I'd make myself the size of Anthony Joshua and make the cunts shut the fuck up for good.

It's fucking embarrassing.

I didn't hear any of this. Disappointing though as it seemed to happen. Will never get booing anyone for bwfc. I never even booed the worst bwfc player ever who signed for us in 2011 from Burnley and wasn't Tyrone Mears!

But robbie Blake scored a belting last minute free kick v stoke Tomski?!

It was shocking, why turn up to a pre-season friendly and within the first 10min of the game start to abuse one of our own players! Feckin idiots!

Good game tho thought we looked solid at the back .

But robbie Blake scored a belting last minute free kick v stoke Tomski?!

Oh hark at the smug bugger with two kids:) congrats mate.

Was Blake not the season before? :)

Just got back in the fucking train didnt stop at salford central went straight past what a twat.

Any way the big bald lad with the black bolton shirt on that had a go at the three dick heads stood behind me and my lad , fair play to him they were embarrasing the shit they were saying at beckford.

Was like l ast year when mears ran after and had a go at the mongtards at shrewsbury thought they were hard till the tables turned.

Right the game was alright typical local friendly , we did enough to win that was it realy wilkinson took his goal well and danns was enjoying himself and his goal was ok , beckford cant do everything on his own he needs a player to run off get support , cant realy take any thing more from the game .

Thought we had very good periods of possession, but still lacked creating enough chances. Rochdale to be fair to them had 5 or 6 good chances.

Positives for me included the back 4 - particularly Moxey

Thought Feeney and Hall both looked tricky and lively.

Good goals from Wilkinson and Danns.

Beckford abuse considering it was a pre season friendly was pathetic, although have to say, he was pretty awful, but got little service.

His 1 on 1 - why didn't he just hit it on target, instead of trying to dribble it round upteen players ?

Good following - Rochdale obviously didn't expect us to take that many.

Overall - a good workout and a clean sheet !!

Only 2 fuckin 0????

not a lot more that can be added tbf- midfield looked lively, but beckford seemed too isolated

and i forgot how far a walk it is from the station!!

chelsea do/did it all the time

chelsea do/did it all the time

Their fans are more patient/less nervous

The first time City won the prem I remember thinking how nervous and impatient their fans sounded on TV and was sure it must transmit to the players and potentially cost them games/league. Whereas at that time Utd fans just knew they would win in injury time if needed and there was no anxiety.

Liverpool are another example. Brendan Rodgers first season they made stacks of mistakes learning to play out from the back but then last season they got pretty good at it

I liked it when we started that last few games of last season but there were a lot of sighs and shouts to get it forward
