No no no! Once it's coming back up off the floor you have a very difficult job. You do not have a half volley or any other kind!

Beach volleyball being discussed and the rules are being blatantly ignored. very poor.

 

Look, it's fucking simple, a half volley is hitting it immediately after it's bounced. That's why it's a hard one to pull off and therefore has its own name.

 

Anything else is just a normal shot.

Why do we rarely see the fruits of it? 

 

Don't know why I asked that really!! I met Mark Bircham on holiday a few years ago in Majorca after Mrs Manc randomly made friends with his Mrs round the pool one day

 

He was youth/reserve/whatever coach at QPR at the time. Had a really good chat with him. His biggest frustration was that he was developing really good players that deserved to play in the first team but because the manager of the club changed so frequently none would take a chance on the youth preferring to bring in their own "type of player". Reckoned that loads of good players were lost each year down to lower leagues just to play in a first team or just left football altogether. Talked a lot about BWFC and remember him saying that the long contract awarded to Allardyce would hopefully see us start to produce first team players out of our system and that was what was needed in football, otherwise the academies/U-23''s meant nowt..........ho hum!!!!

 

Can't remember exactly what year it was but we were playing them in the first game of the season away. He reckoned that they had put together a great team and we had no chance. Cue a 4-0 away win for us. Managed to grab a quick word with him at The Reebok later in the season. Oh how I laughed at him

That's why, whoever and wherever the player, luck plays a part in giving the opportunity at the right time. Usually it arises from injury to a regular, and the novice either steps up to the plate or fails.
