I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

His goals earlier in the season should never be understated 💙

Just bagged his 1st for Sierra leone

First summer in years the squad doesn't need massive changes. We'll be a force next season.

I'd love to able to spend a couple of million on 3 or 4 players but that would mean moving Dapo on probably.

At least we know which division we'll be in so can start early on the planning

FC United are in the same division as Atherton Colls. Bury AFC are going in to the division below that. Workington, Leek Town, Marine, Clitheroe and Mossley of the more traditional clubs. Warrington Rylands (although they’re winning the league), City of Liverpool and Widnes of the ’new’ club types.

Would expect decent gates when Bury inevitably play Ramsbottom over Christmas/New Year.

Suppose with nothing sorted with bury fc they could get some decent gates, seemed a decent crowd today judging by the traffic around here

1,800 on today. They do seem to fairly optimistic that they will move in to Gigg Lane and effectively become the only show in town.

There's still a huge split.  The recent clean up was the forever Bury lot.  Majority of whom are vehemently anti AFC, they have Gigg but no team to play there.

AFC have the team but no ground of their own.

There's a relatively simple solution and all the funding and support is dependent on "one direction of travel" but there's also a lot of intransigence on both sides and particularly on the Forever Bury side.

I agree, and it's an exciting prospect. 2 or 3 more players to propel us to hopefully a tilt at promotion rather than the prospect of needing to sign half a team in the hope of trying to survive in Championship. I'm really looking forward to it.

I know you have to be in it to win it, but I bet Sunderland fans aren't jumping for joy at the thought of play offs given their recent record. Great way to go up, horrible way to stay down.

Agreed, I know the journey is the main part of sport rather than the destination/outcome.  But all that physical effort and emotional rollercoasters that goes into getting 4 teams into the play offs, which for half of them amounts to all of 2 games.

A 25% chance of success and a 75% chance of disappointment and especially for the Wembley losers, emotional exhaustion.  Great if you win, if you lose, what was all that about?  Of the 10 teams above us, 7 are going to feel a degree of disappointment in a couple of months and maybe we'll be the highest placed that are happy with where they finished? Hopefully we can take that optimism into next season where others may have a hangover.

Pure lottery

form means nowt in play offs

Might have been a fluke but last year all 3 play off winners (Brentford, Blackpool, Morecambe) finished the season in the highest positions, so definitely deserved promotion.  FWIW I can see Rotherham falling out of the top 2 and then bottling the play offs.

International weekends are shit.

This one seems even worse than usual.  For one there are no competitive, professional mens games in the entire country today, and also the internationals aren't even competitive, just pointless friendlies.  Normally you'd expect at least a couple of league 1 or 2 live games on a Sunday, or a decent international.

Nah, they’ve only won the Div 1 North, up into the Counties Prem. You are still playing like Squires Gate who get 40 on. FC United are 2 levels above that, it’s a massive gulf between those levels.
