I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

Yeah that's right.

Also, Casino is right, loads mocking the mentality of 'creating' the ultras.

Personally as Palace is my nearest club, and knowing where they pull from, not sure we could do the same at Bolton for loads of reasons.

I think the Holmesdale lot are fairly unique in terms of an English ultras group now, that sets them apart from the kind of hipster type groups you see popping up in Southern non-league at places like Lewes, Enfield, Eastbourne etc.

They've got a fair few years' history of activity behind them and have long standing partnerships with some of what people over here would call "proper" ultra groups at clubs around Europe.

Gone well past being a naff sideshow now for me, I don't think it would take off at every club and I wouldn't want it to, but it's unique and interesting to see/hear.

Palace are entertaining under Vieira. Really like watching them.

Ballsy appointment given their last high profile dabble

I was convinced Palace would finish rock bottom under Vieira

Fair play and all that

As for 4th place the Spurs v Arse game is massive now

There still might be time for Chelsea to blow it

Palace needed a rebuild and they've recruited well so far. Quite a lot to like about them.

I can’t think of Palace without thinking of deluded Dougie. Can’t stand the man

This. A 1,000 x this.

Always a club I've had time for and still do but that greasy, double-speaking prick is always there in the background

Spurs getting 4th would be a huge achievement from where they were. They look excellent. Arsenal are feeling the pressure, I’ll tip Spurs purely because Kane loves a NLD

Palace are certainly on the up, which is good to see round here, also good to see local kids in Palace and Millwall shirts rather than Chelsea or Arsenal.

There was a good piece recently about South London being the new hotbed of English football talent as well and why its happening.

The fans always come across as decent, think it's because the bigger London clubs take the piss or ignore them as their rivialry is with Brighton, and a bit like Bolton, it's close to a city but feels separate from it.

My memory is that at our place, itd be described as

away fans in west lower south

Ultras north lower west

So 70 yards away

Funny thing is plenty on here are too cool for the ultras at palace

Lots of posts mocking em

I think Palace fans are brilliant.  The atmosphere they create is amazing.  All done without chucking stuff too.

My only issue is the "Ultras" label.  It's up there with the "Barmy Army" in the cringey stakes.

Isnt the away end directly next to their ultras bit?

That's why they always congregated in that corner.

I had a look at their ground plan, and as Zico says, they're apart.

Aye you're right. Remember sitting direclty next to that end way back when Arnie scored in the last min.

Theyve obviously shuffled the away end down stream.

Always said they fucked it up when we moved. They promoted the east lower as the new burnden paddock.  They should've gone down the Kop route and got all the vocal support packed in one end.

As ever it will be like a home game for Sheff Weds on sat. They should be diluted down a side.

Big Sam always wanted a wall of noise behind goal and favoured moving the rowdies to North Stand IIRC

Surprised to hear Mark Warburton on the radio then talking about QPR. Talksport had done a news breaking thingy and announced his sacking a few days ago. Talkabsoluteshite

Wasnt it promoted years ago as singing end - with cheaper tickets

A full standing section behind the goal would have been immense. A Kop end

Watching Preston v Blackpool on SSN updates (shit fan), Preston score, player goes straight to away end giving it finger on lips job. No wonder it riles people up.

Happening all over.

Opposition fans shouldn't get so riled, but equally, players shouldn't be doing it. Just celebrate with your own.

Made the mistake of asking a Preston fan once if they really disliked Blackpool so much or was it just exaggerated a bit for something to do. Was left in no doubt 🤣

I’m getting updates on the Reading v Stoke game, Derby are goosed if Reading win it really.

Oxford ain’t catching us now, One more to go

Oh aye its a proper one. Id probably say Preston are the more hateful of the two.

They really don't get on, loads of history with it and a lot more than just footy.

Just get catching Wigan. I’d love to see the fallout of being top two all season and fail at the end.

But they’re not our rivals. No siree!
