He'll get a wedge of the folding stuff and spend it all this month. The owners and shareholders can't risk NOT being in the Champions League. They'll end up at least 4th.

Fucking hell thats a more depressing post than Anewman saying "We are Doomed"

Can't see them finishing any better than 4th at best - new players will need time to bed in and it may be too late by then.

haven't they 'lost' over 200million off the share value

somebody is going to get twitchy

That's why they'll spend. It's a business, not a football club.

I think they'll chuck a bit of money around in this transfer window as well. At the end of the day, with the way they're financed the owners aren't actually in for any of their own money are they?  -  I reckon anything they invested originally they've probably had back by now plus interest. The way they bought the club, using future income, is just outrageous.....but amusing.

If they don't qualify for CL, then I think it causes them a huge issue with regards to paying the interest they have to pay off the debt each year (as they owe to banks and various other financial institutions, as opposed to an individual like we do)

If they fail to qualify for the CL, just watch the green and yellow scarves and "Glazier out" banners start to appear again

They'll be able to make up for the shortfall in income by flogging Rooney and Van Persie who will inevitably demand a move.  They'll then be replaced by cheaper and inferior players and they'll continue to fall further behind the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and City.

Wishful thinking perhaps, but it'll be a joy to watch.

some bright (for them) united fan on the radio last night made some valid points

apparently, 3 or 4 times last season they were 2 down and won 3-2

van persie was the difference between where they are now and where they were last season

ferguson left a relatively poor set of players

the odd one for me is fellaini - how can any player who real madrid were willing to pay 85 million for have such a limited impact

Van Persie was the difference between them winning the title last season, and not doing the year before

however the squad is perceived now, Ferguson still won the title with it last year, or it's just a reflection of how good a manager he was

or how poor/not up to it moyes is

The best game I saw Fellaini play was against Man U at Goodison.  He was a monster that night.  Never seen a player win so many balls in the air just by using his chest to bring the ball down

Trouble is, Man U fans would never stand for their team playing such a direct style of football so I suppose Fellaini is expected to fit into a 'pass and move' style of team.  I'm not sure he's that sort of player so I can't see how it will ever work for him there.

Ferguson managed to have a fully fit Van Persie all season.  That's something that happens very rarely, so you could say Ferguson got very lucky.  When he's fit he's one of the best strikers in the world.  When he's not fit they have to rely on the likes of Welbeck and Hernandez who aren't fit to lace his boots.

Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra are all a year older now too.

Even if Taggart was still in charge, if he had the same squad Moyes has got then IMO they'd not be challenging for the title.  Of course, I think they'd be doing better than they currently are, but I don't think Mourinho, Pellegrini or Wenger would be losing any sleep over them.

Ferguson knew pre season last year it would be his last year

he knew they needed a complete rebuild as players were coming to the end of their times

he didn't have time to build a new squad, knowing it was his last year so put his foot down and went and bought RVP to make sure he won the league.

100% right Garrp, he knew full well that the squad wouldn't be strong enough next year. Moyes also took on the impossible job, the first bloke after Ferguson was always going to be set up to fail. I'm just pleased they've given him a 6 year contract, as that's going to cost a lot to pay off if they decide to get rid. I expect Man United to go through several managers in the next decade or so

Best games Fellaini had was against City, United, Chelsea & Arsenal, almost every season. Weather it be AMC or MC. He was a beast in those big games.

You are spot on with the playing style, Fellaini is not suited to the pass & move style.....but neither is Moyes.

Team needs building around Moyes type players, and I am told, that United fans will not accept that.

Wrong choice of manager.

Martinez to OT and then Moyes having a "home coming" and going back to the Peoples club at the end of this season. MMW, ITK, ATM, FACT

RVP made 38 appearances last season. 35 starts, 31 full nineties, 26 goals.

They wouldn't have won it without him.

This season he's on 11 appearances, 10th starts and 7 full nineties.

They're not going to win it without him.

In summary, fuck them.

That would not suprise me, Bill loves Moist.

And most of our fans are too apathetic.
