I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

No, but Burnham is already finding reasons to blame anyone else.

A handy one being that regional mayors have no control over rail travel, perhaps.

Well quite. He'll blame the colour of the sky if needs be.

For the Munich UEFA game I flew to Stuttgart, as you do. Anyway found some obscure offer that onward train travel was subsidised. Train from Stuttgart to Munich was about 20 euros return.

Flight was full of Everton fans en route to Nuremberg.

Germany is experiencing increasing issues with its train system.

A read an article that appeared on my Google page for some reason, and it was detailing increasing late arrivals etc.

Quite familiar really.

Or, you know, actual facts.

I think it's more them repeating ours.

Finance is tight everywhere.

It's his opinion that Regional Mayors have full control over the rail network in their County. The fact they don't is irrelevant. If he's of a certain age, his opinion over-rides the need for facts. I only learned this yesterday. 🤷‍♂️

It’s a sad indictment that it’s better to show something/someone else is as shot rather than strive for improvement. Probably something we are all guilty of.

It shows that things here aren't necessarily as bad as is often portrayed. We all have problems and we all have good aspects.

Definitely a public attitude though of "Britain is shit" which is a shame as its not accurate.

Anyway, that's for another thread- my initial point was that anyone going and utilising this fine ticketing set up, might nevertheless encounter travel problems.

Hopefully, they'll get the improvement they need beforehand.

Rotherham vs Ipswich off tonight.

You'd be unhappy if you've got as far as Sheffield in this weather from East Anglia.

I think you just be unhappy if you were from Ipswich in general.

Tranmere are in trouble! They’re staring down the barrel off heading back where they belong - non-league.

They looked like they’d turned the poor start around with a few wins and draws but have since lost a few in a row and find themselves 21st with a few below them with a game in hand 🙏🏼

That’s because few travel to London these days as WFH is the norm. HS2 being scrapped was the right decision

Shortage of drivers the reason

The unreliability of the train is the reason I've driven down to London this weekend for work. With parking and congestion charge or train tickets both covered by the contract it wasn't worth the fucking about on the trains.
