I'm not a fan of what I'm about to say because it's used unnecessarily at times. But Oldham is a proper northern club. Good to see them back in the league. Chuffed for 'em.

Indeed, top numbers.

He progresses like we all think, he will spend 2 season max at our place.

You could be league champions by then Pablo.

Good point, well made.

On Hull's following, I don't think any club getting into Europe for the first (or second time) has taken anywhere near the numbers we consistently took.

got to say, this surprised me, if correct

Fernando Torres should be on that list, he was playing first team football from 16 or 17.

Is he of Nigerian decent?

He's probably 36 already.

Probably not from the ones you'd expect, but Wigan took 2,500 to Bruges. Admittedly followed by a few hundred to Maribor (albeit selling out their allocation) and about 80 to somewhere in Russia.

We took 4000 everywhere in my eyes. What was lowest Belgrade or besiktas? About 800 wasn't it?

352 tickets sold for Besiktas (I asked the club  out of interest), including the hardcore who went the day before and met in the James Joyce.

I have no evidence but I'd say 5-600 in Belgrade from memory

You were there, Satan ............. in case you don't remember. I saw you.

:drinks:

Lampard will likely be allowed to sit out against Chelsea so it doesn't affect his relationship with cfc fans. Deary me.

He is moulding into Harrys nephew nicely. I couldn't sign for another English club blah blah

That feels about right. Similar in Skopje too at a guess.

That felt like more. Prob not. We were more spread out though

Reading tonight that hull only had a weeks notice on their game surely that's not right?

Could of swore we took more than that but also thought we went 1 up with Stelios scoring, 12 hours on the lash before kick off didn't do me any good whatsoever. That pub was ace though.

Quite probably. Very tight turnaround in the qualifying rounds - I went to Malmo v Hibs last year and it was only the week prior to that that it was confirmed to be Malmo and not an Irish club (St Pat's springs to mind), though I'd already taken the risk and got cheap flights to Copenhagen.

West ham and Newcastle been lively in getmany

seen that,by the comments west ham steamed them

Apart from Besiktas (which given the fact most went through the club - after the Leeds experience - was understandably a smaller number - and also was right between Plovdiv and Guimaraes), we took big followings virtually everywhere...at a rough guess (having been to 8 of the 9...yes Satan I know, I should have gone to Turkey!...) I'd say:

Plovdiv - 2,500

Guimaraes - 4,000-4500 (check out those pictures of THAT square)

Marseille - 4,000-4,500 (at least - see footage - around a thousand in that overspill section, mainly of lads without tickets as far as I remember, plus more fans than seats in the designated section...I know I didn't have one, even tho I'd paid!)

Skopje - 1500

Munich - 5,000 (a Wanderer who claimed to know somebody at UEFA at the time told me we had 6k there that night...and there were definitely pockets of our fans dotted around the stadium when we scored).

Belgrade - 750 (the hardcore)

Madrid - 4,500 (if in doubt, check out those YouTube shots of our following that night)

Lisbon - 2,500 (let down massively by the club, who thought giving out a free scarf was recompense for throwing possibly our only ever chance to win a European trophy)...

We also had relatively short notice for Besiktas

It was also my only missed one as I couldn't shift work commitments :(

100% boy here

Some of those estimates are a bit exaggerated. Officially we took around 2,600 to Marseille plus a few more in the overspill area.  I don't think we took anywhere near 4,500 to Guimaraes. If we had, we'd have filled that entire end, not just the upper tier. Madrid was just under 4,000 from memory.

I thought it was officially about 3k to Marseille...but there were definitely well over 500 in the overspill...and I reckon there were some forged tickets doing the rounds...definitely more fans than there were seats - if you look at the footage we were that crammed in it looks more like a standing terrace than seating.

I maybe got a little carried away with Guimaraes but would definitely say 4k - there must have been 3k in that square alone.

And Madrid looks a huge following if you watch it back - two tiers down a good length of the pitch.
