3 ex Bolton defenders on the pitch tonight arsenal v Chelsea and we got a combined fee of around 8 million yet Southampton sell one average centre half for 75 million. Our club really has been mismanaged over the years

Absolutely spot on pal.

Had £25 free bet on 2-2. I’ve always been a fan of that Bellerin lad...

Nice, 12/1?

I part laid when it went 2-1 so I've made a decent profit but nowt like if it had come in!

Only 10/1. I’ll put it all in ripple and lose the lot.

Cahill and Alonso ran down their contracts and were never going to sign another. Van Dijk had a 4 year contract.

If you want to show our mis-management at its best you need to talk about Keith Andrews and Ben Amos (3 and 4 year contracts for a has been and a never has been!!).

and, while we know coyle is full of shit ( and not just about turning down 16 million for cahill) the pitch forks would've been out had we sold him

in fact we have performed badly re player sales but it has generally been due to holding on to players for too long

proper lack of ambition

Was a great game that. Both sides trying to score goals and competitive without being over the top and spoiling the game.

One of the commentators made a good point - games between the ‘big 6’ v the rest this year have been as poor as ever, but generally when the big 6 have played each other they have been some of the best games for years (United parking the bus excluded)

Yeah. A bit of a concern, in that being in the prem is almost a poisoned chalice. Have to make huge investment in players and wages to try and stay in, and risk doing a Bolton if it goes wrong.

The top few rich teams are still going to lead the way, but it seams teams not willing to have a go; just try to avoid a thralling and concentrate on each other.

Shame.

Perhaps they'll start talking about a breakaway European (or even world) super league again, Champions League is a dead rubber until the quarter finals, domestic leagues are becoming more polarised than ever. I'm well against it though. No matter how far ahead the elite are in each league, as soon as you start permanently taking clubs out of domestic competition you devalue it, for me. And for those super super elites that would break away, who's to say they wouldnt become franchises, swapped from city to city/country to country at the first sign of struggle?

Bit of a drastic view of things sure, but you never know.

The champions league is as close to a European super league as you will get for now. Various teams put the idea out of a European super league but the threat of being booted out off tfreir own countries leagues put them off

You only have to look at UEFA treat FFP these days. Let the likes of PSG and Man City off as they need them in the tournament. Even further back Real Madrid were let off the hook

A few years back that Apoel Nicosia did well and got out of the group stages. In their next match commentators were saying they didn’t belong there amongst the best teams in Europe

If that was a non league club getting to the quarter finals of the fa cup they would be lapping it up

remember Schalke getting to the semis of the CL and getting dicked 6-1 by Utd, and were regarded as one of the worst teams to get to that stage in the CL by some pundits

despite the fact they got to the semis

seemed harsh
