Youri McAnespie Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 N'Gog on as an impact sub after 51 mins as Ross are 2-0 down. Final score... Motherwell 2 (Souttar 45 OG, Main 47) Ross County 4 (Ngog 58, 81, Draper 64, Eagles 90) Owen Coyle - Football genius. Quote

Casino Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 The quality of football on offer may well have been shitter, but was it less enjoyable than it is now? Tbh enjoyable is us winning, nowt else matters Anyway, less enjoyable suggests it's entertainment I'd agree that's what it's supposed to be And I think in that case the entertainers should get the money Quote
madthatter Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Added to the fact that there’s no way it would be capped worldwide so the whole thing goes tits up when every player worth their salt fucks off abroad. Could FiFA not impose this? In theory like, as I know they never would. Quote
Traf Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 At least the HMRC gets half of it when it goes to the players Do they fuck. No footballer is paying 50% tax. Quote
gonzo Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Do they fuck. No footballer is paying 50% tax. Don't start him off on tax Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Do they fuck. No footballer is paying 50% tax. Especially Glenn Murray. Quote
birch-chorley Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Do they fuck. No footballer is paying 50% tax. According to the HMRC’s tax calculator Sanchez’s £350k a week / £18.2m a year paid via PAYE would be subject to.... £8.5m tax £367k NI That’s 48.9% in deductions Man United would also have to pay a further £2.5m in employers NI contributions which means that in total his annual salary generates the HMRC circa £11.5m The average nurse earns £23k a year, call it £30k with additional contributions, Sanchez PAYE bill alone pays for 380 nurses a year. That’s not even taking into account tax on any signing on fees or bonuses The PL is a huge export for the UK and brings in billions of pounds a year, a lot of which goes to the government to fund public services. It has to be a good thing surely? It won’t be that long before the PL is old news and there is a new kid in town. I’m sure we will then look back with fondness at a time when English club football was at the centre of the global game. Quote
Casino Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 clubs have a deal where 20% of wages can be paid in image rights which only attract corporation tax but, generally, im on your side Quote
Whites man Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 They can also make enhanced pension contributions and draw them earlier given the short career. Quote
Traf Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 And how much of their salaries go to shell companies/offshore accounts, avoiding tax? Quote
birch-chorley Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 I'm not sure, are you? I'd assume all the salaries are paid PAYE like the rest of us, the HMRC would certainly have something to say about it otherwise Bonuses, signing on fees and other lump sums might be a different story but I haven't included those in my example anyway The fact is that the country benefits much more when Man United spends £400m a year on wages than it would do if they only spent £40m a year so as such all the money in the game is a good thing for everybody and not the huge negative some see it as Quote
MalcolmW Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 I'm not sure, are you? I'd assume all the salaries are paid PAYE like the rest of us, the HMRC would certainly have something to say about it otherwise Surely you are joking? Quote

birch-chorley Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Of course less the 20% that you've already called out, leaves 80% of salary through PAYE, a huge amount a tax On Sanchez alone the HMRC would get £9.1m from 80% of a £18.2m salary (inc employers NI contributions) Quote
