DomRepWanderer Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 As sentiments go, a fit Holden would be fantastic, but it aint gonna happen, if he makes a comeback he'll do it in the good old US of A, where he can subsidise his wages with tv appearances. Quote
L/H White Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Gartside should be taking a paycut to fund his wages really. Quote
Whites man Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 This needs some research but an Italian or Spanish player went back to his old club for a final season and played for free. Quote

jayjayoghani Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Not quite the same but Angelo di Livio stayed with Fiorentina when they went bankrupt. Â The new club started in Serie C2 and he was the only player to stay. Quote
Sweep Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Gartside should be taking a paycut to fund his wages really.  Correct, and as the fans really want him back, just put the ticket prices up an extra quid (increase ST's direct debit costs), and increase ale and pies by £0.50 and then his wages will be more than covered...............maybe Quote
mannyroad58 Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 It's a no from me He's to old to get from box to box so take away his goals he's just an ordinary footballer and we have plenty of them Quote

If all he brings are his goals I'd be happy with that. Quote
Anderson Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I don't see the issue, it'd be like having a different type of Eidur, a leader on and off the pitch, chips in with goals and offers little else. Quote

kent_white Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I think he'd be a lift for everyone at the club. Just depends whether he's on daft money or not. I think there's space for him in a 5 man midfield. Be nice if we could offload Medo or Trotter mind! Quote
Anderson Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 That's the problem, he won't bring the goals How do you know that? Off a target man like Madine he could grab 10 if played regularly. Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 How do you know that? Off a target man like Madine he could grab 10 if played regularly. Â Agreed. Â Nolan looked an absolute world-beater when he was playing just behind SKD. Madine could also have the same effect. Quote
Casino Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 How do you know that? Off a target man like Madine he could grab 10 if played regularly.   he could  but, and i guess this is the problem, lets say madine gets another 10, thats 'only' 20 between the two we'd be looking at to be top scorers Quote

So we're stuck with risky young kids on loan from bigger teams.  I think the Nolan thing is only going to happen if it is financially right for the club, similar to Eidur. Quote
