Mounts Kipper Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 (edited) it all depends what you want to believe for me, we were in a hole and he helped us out of it theres a few former shareholders on here hold a view that ED stole the club from them its something i struggle to buy into as the shares were worth more as bog roll He bought us when we were in trouble financially for a song, from memory about 14 million. I find it hard to believe that a trained accountant Gartside and a successful business man like E.D. Have allowed the club they love to get into this position, regardless of our success over the 10 year the pair of them will be ultimately judged on where they leave the club when they hand over the reins, here's hoping they get the right buyer for the club and that when they do we're not playing in league 1 or 2. HR Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 You can't compare the challenge Lennon faces with Allardyces start with us. Having a negative cash balance to deal with in this era, Lennon has got both hands tied behind his back. Quote
gonzo Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 The term reverse takeover sticks in my mind from that era. Then getting excited because our shares were worth more than millwalls. Quote
snowball Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 it was all very complicated to a thicko like me but, when were promoted (the time we bought elliot and holdsworth) we needed cash this was before davies it was before pg was chairman but he may have been on the board we got involved with this mosaic outfit who had some money and burnden leisure was formed and floated of the market i think share price was 37p and i think they quickly rose following relegation and a realisation football clubs at our level were a shitty investment they were worthless davies was already in for a few million and (so the story goes) said he would back us but he wanted all the shares he got them The whole financial situation was and continues to be complicated and I bet no one on here really understands it, how much of the debt is actual debt. Is a debt a debt if its owed to the owner and not the banks etc etc. Apparently though all the answers are in the accounts that's the standard reply to anyone questioning the current board/owner? Still can't make head nor tail of it myself apart from we are fucked without new money coming in. Quote
superkev Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Also puts into perspective how bad a job Gartside has done for a supposed businessman to run the club virtually into the ground is tantamount to a dereliction of duty. That supposed dereliction of duty is probably what gave us our premiership years and relative success. Being prudent at that time would not have given us that and the said same fans would have been moaning that we weren't spending enough Quote
deane koontz Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 So have we signed a striker yet? Quote
davidjack Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I'm still waiting to find a ticket for £8.50. Given most of our support is made up of adult season ticket holders who are paying on average £15 or so a game I really don't see where the £8.50 figure comes from. The couple of thousand or so on the day sales are never less than about £25 a ticket for adults either. We'd have to be selling thousands and thousands more kids' season tickets to bring it anywhere close to an average of £8.50. Quote
Carlos Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I pay £6.50 a game, it's who you know... Quote

davidjack Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Presume what you like. I've just told you what the facts of actual rather than notional or mythical ticket prices are. Quote
Carlos Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 The only fact you've presented is that you don't have a decent source for tickets. Quote
davidjack Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 The club claim to have sold 10,800 season tickets - unless I missed it, not one of those averages out at £8.50 for an adult. Most are roughly double that price. Quote

davidjack Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Not a big enough percentage to bring average down to £8.50...not by a long way. Quote
