onlyoneawalker Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) Those having a pop at Eddie Davies are bang out of order it's as simple as that you sound like spoilt kids it's a piece of piss suggesting educated risks with other people's money. We've not overspent either Eddie has spent what he feels he can afford - the club on paper owes him a lot of money all of which is perfectly legitimate but given a reasonable offer he'd write off the vast majority so if you want something to be grateful about that's it as for the footballing side of things it's a bit shit to say the least but it's sport ffs it's what happens ups and down that's what makes it fucking fun Edited September 25, 2015 by onlyoneawalker Quote

snowball Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Honestly it's not that steep and certainly not that dramatic. Talk to any number of the teams who went down from the Premier League, and then down again, and sometimes even down again. Talk to Portsmouth fans who went from all but qualifying for Europe down to League 2, funnily enough because they were financially fucked up. We have slowly over the past 10 years gotten worse and worse, mostly because we started to draw the purse strings tighter, but we haven't dropped like the stone you're all suggesting. People are stating "Europe to League 1 in 10 years", and we're not even down to league 1 yet! Hardly steep and/or dramatic. Unless you're a drama queen, of course - I'm beginning to think many on here are just that. I hope you are right snoop I really do but it doesn't look good. I will gladly be proved a drama queen if we survive this season and next when we have no more parachute money. Hudders has done it for me though and since then we have been turned down by rubbish striker after rubbish striker. Huddersfield were no great shakes either which makes it worse. We are circling the plug hole for sure. Anyone can feel better comparing themselves to Portsmouth now they were royally screwed and didn't even own their car park. We won't go down that route?? Quote

waffer cup 07 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) So as previously said it's not down to ffp that were screwed. Then we've got a wealthy owner as well as a wealthy board who are all supporters that are willing to oversee the demise of our club Previous explanations don,t convince me. I just can,t get my head round it. Edited September 25, 2015 by waffer cup 07 Quote
birch-chorley Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I also finding it a little bizarre how people are expecting ED to pump more of his own money in to fund a striker that could quite easily turn to shit or get injured. See Sordell, Ngog etc etc The club is a business and needs to stand on its own 2 feet, going a few million over budget each year isn't horrendous when your turnover is £60m but when it's more like £6m it becomes very difficult to sustain We will likely tread water in this division or in league 1. It's unlikely to get a great deal better until we..... get lucky with a few kids coming through at the same time or Manage to pick up 2 or 3 really good quality players for peanuts who we can build a team around Or A buyer steps forward who isn't concerned about losing £20m on players who might not work out Quote
mickbrown Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 The plan seems to be to hope that somehow, Lennon can scrape us into the play offs with a collection of kids, freebies and loans. Then somehow get promoted, get shitloads of money. Ain't much of a plan I grant you, but if the owner ain't prepared to stump up the cash any longer, that's all we have. And the gradual decline will continue. Quote

jturner Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 davies has done his bit he wants to get out just as much as you want him out Not for me he doesn't If Davies drops the asking price he's far more likely to sell. The current price is like asking 200K for a two up two down on Tonge Moor Road. Quote
Carlos Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 What is the current asking price? As you seem to know. Quote

gonzo Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 our club is worth £500 million so i think davies is selling it cheap Also the assets alone are worth £57 million and ED is rumoured to want £30 million. Quote

DirtySanchez Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Change the official address of the club to Horwich That would add a few noughts onto the value Quote

BOWTUN BAKED Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Also the assets alone are worth £57 million and ED is rumoured to want £30 million. There are a number of stories going round at the moment, all quoting different numbers. The latest I heard was £20M for the club, just the club, then another 50M for the assets if you want them. Though when quizzed which assets, they didn't know. Let's face facts, no-one knows! Quote

Mounts Kipper Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) I'm hoping the closure of the fraud case against Gartside and Marland might now open the way for investors as that case might have put potential buyers off. Edited September 25, 2015 by Mounts Kipper Quote
Rembrandt Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 you cant compare ffp that applies to city with ffp that applies to our division and expect to be taken seriously it just shows ignorance of the facts davies has done his bit he wants to get out just as much as you want him out i just think anybody who turned a blind eye to our overspending while getting pissed up in europe, but whines now is a fcuking hypocrite So no-one knows any figures now, but we all knew the club was overspending 8-10 years ago ? Despite their promises not to let spending put the club's future at risk. Sure, let's all believe that and then we can all sit back, relax, and que sera, que sera. Quote
