Ream is a decent footballer but not a good defender .He's not quite up to midfield duties & despite being signed from America must be on a reasonable wage (for actual figures see Anderson snoopdog & zico) so anything over a million looks decent to me , although not until after the weekend.

Is konchesky not a left back , says he's signed for QPR on SSN .

I think reams shit

but i also think hes our best defender.

and there lies our defensive problems.

Almost this. He's not shit, but he's not brilliant, and he is our best defender

He's far from shit.

He's a good footballer, but he'd be a far better defender if he wasn't built like a Wendy house.

He's no Barry Cowdrill.

I like Ream, and at 27 he's only going to get better as a defender and he's ours at least and not a loanee.

We've got other fires to fight without getting the matches out at left back.

a million quid and half a million a year off the wage bill means how good he is, is largely irrelevant

thats 4 players on 5k a week for 2 years

alternatively, 1 million and 10k a week is a third of our fcuking seasons gate money

fwiw, if theyve got konchesky, theyll not be needing ream

If we sold him we would have to get 3 more players in just to cover what he covers

if we sold him, we could afford to!

and the odds of all 3 being unfit are greater than just him being injured

Madness to let Ream go for 1 million, technically a good footballer if we had a decent back four I'd play him play him in a defensive midfield role. With our current predicament he can play left back or centre half and that makes him worth more than 1 million.

A million for Ream currently represents good business to me.

The money could cover two or three new signings.

All of this is now largely irrelevant with QPR signing Konchesky. Which I'm delighted about, he's getting far too much stick on here, he's very good on the ball, pretty quick, reads the game well enough and has improved massively well in the air. As a left back he's consistent and reliable, we wouldn't have got better had he gone.

We don't necessarily save the wages as unless he asks for a move we have to pay his contract up. I know this normally gets negotiated but we'd still pay some.

Do we? I'd cast doubts on that.

cos its the ramblings of an utter moonman

Would this not be covered in the transfer fee?

That's just bollocks

So if we want defenders to defend properly we can expect them to be suspended 1 every 3 games. Very odd statement that blixa

There's a difference between defending properly and signing a couple of night club bouncers to kick the shit out of the opposition. The latter seems to be what a good number of folk on this board seem to want. Ron ' bite yer legs' Harris or some such throwback.

Defenders aren't shit because they can't elbow some bugger off the ball, it's because they don't read the game ahead of their opponent. Ream's problem is that - and he's not alone in that at BWFC. Defending is a unit and our defensive unit has been piss poor for years. Ream in a well drilled regular back four would be more than good enough for this division.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.

For reference by the way Ream earnt $55,125 the year before we signed him. So around about 1k/w, I know he's had a couple of contract renewals since then so it may not have much bearing but I'd say it's fair to assume he'll be on a fairly low wage in comparison to some.

Is it ok to want something in the middle?

Someone that's not 'a nightclub bouncer' but is still a physical presence?

We've been weak as piss for ages now and Ream sums our feeble existence during our decline from the top flight perfectly.

I don't want a team of cloggers,I just don't want us bullied and out battled every week like we have been for the past 5 seasons.
