At some point, the Iranians are going to pop something towards Tel Aviv

That’s when it really goes off.

Didn’t Parliament vote on it in 2013 and it was voted down?

Then again in 2015 and we voted for it, that was all a big brouhaha then but with hindsight I would say it was the right thing to do to get rid of ISIS

This time, well let’s see, if no big issue with us targeting Assad’s military bases

To be fair wasn't the ginger one flying Apache's? You are going to see action in one of those.

Aye iirc.  I also seem to remember he wanted to do more but was pulled back as ISIS or whoever had suspicions he was in that area.

Fair play and I can see it but also wonder how much the press spin stories like that

William did a stint in the Falklands and in the search and rescue iirc.

Harry's movements were kept a secret and only released to the public once he was finished in a particular area.

There is footage somewhere of him being interviewed on a base by a journalist then all hell breaks loose and he jumps up and runs off to his station.

So our civilized bombs are going to kill their uncivilized bombs?

Need to do better than that.

Destroying research and storage facilities is far preferable to someone dropping barrel bombs of chemicals on civilians.

If folk can't see that they're puddled.

It's an unwanted response to an unacceptable situation

I suppose we could send in ground troops or just leave em to it?  I think this approach is the lesser of all evils.

Quite.

I was thinking last night, and talking to my lad earlier. The Russian will have been told what was going to happen. Vince cable earlier saying the same thing.

Hopefully now they'll keep assad in check, help him win his war and get back to rebuilding his country.

Quite.

But what will follow. Going off our recent "interventions" in foreign conflicts including Syria, Libya and Iraq I'm somewhat skeptical there'll be much foresight involved.

Who knows maybe I'm wrong : )

a big brouhaha

Surely the first time that word has been used on here

One must ask why is it always us that’s involved?

Who made us world police?

Both sides seem to be quite measured since the attacks which is somewhat reassuring....

I guess as a permanent member of the UN Security Council we have responsibilities

Don’t know how we got ourselves appointed, though

We always back the Yanks up, shame they didn't reciprocate over the Falklands crisis.

What happens to the ‘chemicals’ once they, or whatever they have been stored in, are bombed?

I'm guessing but possibly not that deadly until mixed together.  I'd imagine the sites will look like Moses Gate did through the 80s for a while though

No idea but it now means that the investigation into whether there were chemical weapons used and if so what and where from is going to be very difficult or impossible.

The cynical types and conspiracy lovers are already claiming the bombings were done so that the links can't be made back to the uk/us

I think chemical weapons are 'mixed' at the time of deployment. I have no doubt there are some nasties releases into the air when a chemical factory is bombed. Not good either but maybe the lesser of two evils?

The Iranian's aren't idiots. Arabs have tried attacking Israel 5 times and they always end up getting their shit handed to them and spending the next decade moaning Israel took more territory in the process.

Not really, they will be taking samples from the area of the chemical attack, the bombed facilities are no where near.

Perhaps if they didn't take territory that isn't theirs in the first place then others in the area wouldn't be so hostile. I am fully aware that they have been hostile from the start but taking more than their fair is never going to end things.

I love a good tin foil hat theory but why would we have done it?  So we could then bomb the factories?  I'm not seeing the point?!

I reckon there's a lot more going on behind the scenes than we realise though.

Does anybody else feel like this has all been done so both sides can save face? The Ruskies still get their world cup - we still get to look like we're being tough on chemical weapons - the status quote is preserved.....

Especially as the Ruskies didn't attempt to shoot down the missiles, almost like a free hit

Of all the tin foilers this is the most sensible. I am told that these days we don't go bombing anyone without giving the nod to the big players first, even if they don't agree. It wouldn't surprise me if Russia underestimated the Salisbury backlash from the west and will happily take this on the chin. At the end of the day the job is done, Douma is back in the hands of Assad.

Didn’t the Israeli borders get decided by the UK to start with...?
