  • Dunno about you lot, but I'd forgotten what it felt like after a big win at football.   I might have done a sex wee

4 points has us through to the knockout stage for sure, but we need to win the group to assist our progression through to the quarters.

Hopefully we'll grow into the tournament.

More likely than not, but not yet certain.

I know Russia robbed us but I'm pretty sure everyone watched that was thinking they didn't fancy meeting us, especially with Vardy and Sturridge on the bench.

We are doing what England do best when they have a good tournament... improving when plan A gets thrown out the window. If Sturridge is there then we must assume he's fit, if he's fit he's our best striker therefore he must play. Vardy is irresistible atm so he too has to start. & for Pabs, when Dele Alli gets some movement ahead of him to create space he too will come good. Face it mate, he's better than Ross the boss & I'm a Barkley fan..if your man gets in I'm sure he won't let us down.

Nothing to do with Ross, he shouldnt be in the team, but if Ross would have put those 2 performances in, he would be getting destroyed, fact!!

Finally getting this seasons football fix. Superb result really buzzing after that and well done Northern Ireland great stuff.

And no, we are not yet through, as it is possible for third placers in Groups C, D, E and F to have at least 5 points.

With all due respect Malcom,i'd say the chances of that happening are incredibly slim.

Respect to NI too that was a tough encounter in truly terrible conditions. Let's hope all 3 home nations plus ROI get through to the knockout stages

That was absolutely mint. Hogarths, wow.

These days dont come along very often for club or country. What a day.

England are like Newcastle.

Size and the passion is there but endlessly under achieving, celebrated like we've won the World Cup today (me included).

That was good at work

All fucking giving it the big un at half time

The chances of 4 groups with third places having more than 4 points is indeed slim. But not impossible.

But what about  third placers with 4 points? Do you know how they are classified?

Head-to-head counts within a group, but obviously doesn't apply across groups.

So its points first, obviously, then goal difference, then goals for.

And, of course, it is still possible to be tied at that point.

In which case yellows and reds come into play.

After that comes national team rankings....

It is quite clear that 4 or more third placers can be expected to be on 4 or more points, and if England do finish on 4 points the best GD they can have is 0.

That was fucking ace.

I don't give a shit who was crap, overpaid or otherwise. It was a magnificent win!

Best keep the yellow cards down then

Oh absolutely, and now we're Newcastle circa 1997, or the Avalanche. Its a great ride. But we all know we're going to get chucked off before the end

That'll do

Spunked it last minute against Russia

Then get a win in the last minute

Leaves us top

Start sturridge and vardy instead of kane and sterling next time out and we should win the group

Maybe in certain quarters mate but not here....I'll save my vitriol for the one Sterling that never performs well against the Euro.

Cundy less than complimentary about Wales on TS just then Jesus.

Sports bar will be good at 10

On the downside, pub I was in, the landlord didn't know what a Jagerbomb was! Didn't want to push my luck and get a Vardybomb later.

Enjoyed that today more than any England game for a long time

Starting line-up completely wrong and the first half showed it but have to admit that i was stunned that Hodgson was so bold at half time with his subs

Fair play to him. He simply has to start the next game with that line-up that started the second half

We actually look quite good as an attacking team with fast players. Most teams are happy to sit back so fuck em and go for it

Fair do's pal, agreed that Sterling is Nd has been bad, i just cant understand how fast his feet are and slow his head is.

Also, heard that this week in this secret trAining England have had, Roy has had Ross running at the England defense all week to get them used to Bale......

Does anyone actually give a fuck about this??

Heard this talk sport not sure who was on there, some ex pro but saying it was what all teams do, first 11 are playing a and then an extra ball is thrown on to replicate ball being given away and then they work on recovering positions so it is only players who are not in first team that can play the opposition.

Did Vardy touch ball other than the goal ? I agree on Alli, he as poor, but given back 4 look dodgy, sterling and Kane were rubbish, Alli similar, the rest must be doing ok

I do got them in the sweep. :)

Actually thought Alli was good in the second half. Got forward more, picked the ball up in more threatening positions and provided a great assist for the goal.
