Hope nobody has booked with them - Ceased trading - and based in Spain so no ATOL protection

"The collapse of LowCostHolidays is particularly controversial because while it sells trips to British customers, its offices are in Spain.

When it moved from the UK in 2013 it stopped being covered by an industry safety-net run by travel body ATOL, which protects travellers if the firm they booked with has gone bust."

Feel sorry for anybody who loses out on this.....although booking a holiday through a firm with no ATOL protection is fucking madness

Bloody hell! I've used Lowcost holidays the last 2 years. I'm going to Italy tomorrow for our main holiday, used booking.com this time, thank god!

Awful for people that have booked with them and to be be honest I'd never heard of this ATOL protection till this morning

I know folk who have booked with them. Supposed to be flying out next week.

 

Also got a mate supposed to be going to Turkey on hols today.

This is why I always use my Credit Card to book hold etc, as long as at least £100 of the cost is paid on the credit card, then the whole cost is covered under section 75

We always pay the deposit on CC as well (which is generally over £100) that way we know we're covered. Fortunately this has never happened to me.....yet

Apart from cruising i can't remember the last time i booked a holiday through a travel agent/holiday company

They also had lowcostbeds who were a clearing agent for hotel rooms, go those that have booked online indirectly.

Talacre Beach in N Wales in a caravan with a load of screaming kids would tip the balance of sanity for me this summer.
