bolty58 Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Just finished power, was fucking brilliant Is this 'Power' or 'Powers' mate? Trying to find it. Quote

frank_spencer Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Is this 'Power' or 'Powers' mate? Trying to find it. Powers is based on comics written by one of my favourite writers Brian Michael Bendis and put out by Sony. Its on my list to watch once the murican football season finishes Quote
DirtySanchez Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Started Quarry last night on Sky box sets. Watched the first 2 episodes, very good so far, slow burner. About an Ex-Vietnam soldier re-adjusting to life after the war. Only 1 series with 8 episodes have been made hopefully a second series is on the way. Three episodes in and enjoying it Buddy is ace Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Seen the first two episodes of taboo. Not sure about it yet but will give it time. Quote
White on Tyne Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Yeah agree. By the way i find some of these tv dramas quite hard to follow as there's too much mumbling. Quote
Sweep Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 quite hard to follow as there's too much mumbling. Taboo is full of mumbling, it drives me mad. Quote
Zico Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Tom Hardy is always mumbling Mad max, lawless, revernant, taboo etc Quote

And also a lot of american movies. Need subtitles. Or age! Saw the remake of a witness for the prosecution. That was done in sepia tones and as if the great fire of London was still smouldering. Not great. Quote
birch-chorley Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 That designated survivor was decent enough Series 1 on Netflix Quote
Big City Girl Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 (edited) Not just me then. And also a lot of american movies. Need subtitles. Or age! Saw the remake of a witness for the prosecution. That was done in sepia tones and as if the great fire of London was still smouldering. Not great. I've struggled hearing a lot of films, even with my ear trumpet. Glad it's not just me. I love subtitles. Edited January 17, 2017 by Big City Girl Quote

End up turning the volume up on a lot of films when there's dialogue. Then an explosion occurs and the adverts come on and it blows your ears off. Quote
Marc505 Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Stacey Dooley on BBC1 now. Fascinating, awful subject. Shit accent. Quote
Casino Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I've struggled hearing a lot of films, even with my ear trumpet. Glad it's not just me. I love subtitles. speakers on flat panels are pretty poor as theyve not much room nearly always bang the surround on boom, boom, boom Quote
Sweep Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I've struggled hearing a lot of films, even with my ear trumpet. Glad it's not just me. I love subtitles. My brother-in-law always has subtitles on, no matter what he is watching, it drives me mad. He's got a great TV, but refuses to invest in a decent sound bar/system. When we bought our new telly about 6 months ago, the first thing I noticed was that the picture was great, but the sound was shit. We then bought a decent sound bar and woofer to go with it, and it's a million times better. Sometimes I'll flick between the sound bar and the TV speakers, and the difference is amazing, the amount that you miss out on just relying on the TV speakers is incredible Quote

How much for a decentish one? Quote
Sweep Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Presumably some sound bars are better than others. How much for a decentish one? I don't know to be honest, I'm sure that you can spend as much as you want on one, I've got this and it's excellent: https://www.bose.co.uk/en_gb/products/speakers/home_theater/cinemate-15-home-theater-speaker-system.html Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Kinell, should hope so. I'll put up with mumbling for the time being. Quote
Underpants Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 (edited) Taboo is full of mumbling, it drives me mad. It sounds daft, and it takes a bit of getting use to, but try it with subtitles. Peaky Blinders was murder to follow; mumbling, whispering and dodgy accents. Watched it with subs and it was much more enjoyable. Edited January 18, 2017 by Underpants Quote
DazBob Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Even a cheap sound bar <£100 will give sound a million times better than the speakers on a new telly. Quote
