Duck Egg Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 I watched both the Stephen Lawrence and the Harold Shipman docs earlier. If proof were ever needed that we must hang onto the Beeb, it was right there. Two fascinating topics but only 1 good programme. Itv is starting to favver channel 5 Quote
madthatter Posted April 27, 2018 Posted April 27, 2018 ^ Lad was only about 14 or 15 too wasn't he? I remember the recording of the cops giggling and saying "a gay lovers tiff. We sent him back to his boyfriend" Sounds about right age wise. I seem to remember the cops getting in bother after the fact but not sure of the details. Not excusing them but you'd not expect what had happened to actually be happening. It was in a run down part of town where lots of 'bums' frequented and prostitution was rife iirc so probably thought best to leave em to it. Lad could barely speak so they assumed he was high I think. I watched both the Stephen Lawrence and the Harold Shipman docs earlier. If proof were ever needed that we must hang onto the Beeb, it was right there. Two fascinating topics but only 1 good programme. Itv is starting to favver channel 5 They still make amazing docs and dramas, although the latter aren't my cop of tea. Kids stuff is excellent as well. It's the media side I have an issue with. Quote
Smiley Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 I watched both the Stephen Lawrence and the Harold Shipman docs earlier. Watched both over the weekend. HS one could definitely have been extended. A lot more about the case I would have liked to have known, plus his demise. The Stephen Lawrence one was probably slightly the opposite - could've wrapped it up a bit quicker. But all-in, good watch. Evil bastards - can't believe the Acourts have still not been brought to justice. But with no evidence there's no way on earth they ever will be. Quote
Big E Posted May 1, 2018 Posted May 1, 2018 One episode to go on Luther (I know I am years behind) What would folk suggest next ? Quote
DazBob Posted May 2, 2018 Posted May 2, 2018 Maybe check the hundreds and hundreds of posts above yours as a starting point? Quote
Duck Egg Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 Watched both over the weekend. HS one could definitely have been extended. A lot more about the case I would have liked to have known, plus his demise. Evil bastards - can't believe the Acourts have still not been brought to justice. But with no evidence there's no way on earth they ever will be. The initial Police investigation when the coppers first turned up at the scene was appalling but there seemed to be a theme that the killers were getting away with it because of police corruption, incompetence and institutional racism. Yet there was no evidence. Even the eventual convictions were on pretty shaky ground. I felt so sorry for Dwayne Brooks. Witnessing that, placed under enormous pressure and then snubbed by Doreen Lawrence ever since Quote
MalcolmW Posted May 3, 2018 Posted May 3, 2018 First part of a BBC2 documentary on Syria, and how the crisis evolved, has just finished. Second and final part tomorrow at 9pm. Quote
stevieb Posted May 4, 2018 Posted May 4, 2018 First part of a BBC2 documentary on Syria, and how the crisis evolved, has just finished. Second and final part tomorrow at 9pm. Saw that. Didn't know about the crowd being shot at in the square in 2011 after they told women and children to go home. Sign of the times though I was watching it and wondering whose agenda the editing fits. bolty58 Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 Clarkson is good on wwtbam Have to agree. Glad to see his sarcasm has not been blunted. Funny man. I wonder how much the BBC regret Top Gear floundering and worldwide sales drying up. The fucking (left wing PC) clowns. Quote
jayjayoghani Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 To be fair Clarkson twatted a BBC colleague didn't he? Quote
frank_spencer Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 To be fair Clarkson twatted a BBC colleague didn't he?Well he wouldn't get him some hot food from the closed kitchen so obviously Clarkson was well within his rights to do so. This is the best thing he's been involved with Quote
bolty58 Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 To be fair Clarkson twatted a BBC colleague didn't he? A shame he didn't twat more of the red shithouses. Quote
Guest Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 A shame he didn't twat more of the red shithouses. Nowadays the BBC is stock full of new age "liberal elite Tories".... Not really sure though that hitting a young producer cos the restaurant is shut is anything other than the behaviour of an absolute tosser. Having said that, I'm surprised you're so sympathetic towards a massive remain supporter! Quote
Elson Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCwwxNbtK6Y Just watched these, and I rather enjoyed it, Quote
MickyD Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 To be fair Clarkson twatted a BBC colleague didn't he? I've seen colleagues hit other colleagues and it not result in someone getting sacked. Probably because no fucker went running to HR. Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted May 8, 2018 Posted May 8, 2018 I wonder if nouveau-riche pretend posho yorkie fakir pseudo 'lad' Clarkson would've tried to snot one of the electricians, stunt-blokes etc. working on the production for some similar shoddy job? Nah, but faced down with a 5' 6" university educated jovial Irish media type and cuntychops is suddenly Michael Caine in 'Get Carter'... Quote

For those who've skirted around the actual reason it all kicked off in the first place.... would this be a good watch? If its similar to Death of Yugoslavia, then I'll be all over it. Quote

Not Nouveau-riche either, an ancestor invented the Kilner Jar, which made some money. Quote

Not really sure though that hitting a young producer cos the restaurant is shut is anything other than the behaviour of an absolute tosser. Having said that, I'm surprised you're so sympathetic towards a massive remain supporter! I know. Perplexing is it not? On top of that, he's Yorkshire born, Yorkshire bred, strong in the arm, thick in the head too. I am able to overcome all of this with my admiration of his complete lack of political correctness. Of course you agree with all of the views/opinions/beliefs of all of the sportspersons, actors, celebrities and politicians you like, don't you? Preposterous and you know it. Quote
bolty58 Posted May 9, 2018 Posted May 9, 2018 Your spiritual king? Now you are just being very silly. As I have told you before, my spiritual king is Sir Coxsone Dodd Duke Reid and the prince is the one and only Buster. Quote
