FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

  • Sure it's that Mandela effect in full flow here that we all seem to be OK with this. It's a fucking travesty and complete shitshow. He's our most prolific striker by a country mile, has been

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Watched Altrincham (Hutch) v Rochdale (Broome) recently which Rochdale won as expected however Broome pulled off a string of good saves to preserve their lead and looked the better of the two keepers. Hutch made some decent saves and was unlucky with one goal, but his distribution was great - otherwise he doesn’t seem to have progressed much. However neither keeper really dominated their area.

I don't think I could name another goalkeeper in our division or championship :D

Broome was back on the bench for the last game.

To win anything you need a spine to your team our spine, keeper, centre mid and CF all aren’t good enough.

Mad isn't it, 3 months ago it wouldn't have been a question that we have the centre mid and striker to rival any at this level.

Ability wise, I'd still argue that's the case, the squad has just lost all confidence.

Brad Friedel

L1 and 2 these days tend to be the home for serial loanees from the big clubs, doing two or three different gigs before their contract runs out and they bail out for a permanent job somewhere.

Our man TSL one of those, Keeley at Luton, Marshall at Stevenage, Whitworth at Exeter, Trott at Cardiff and Wickens at Lincoln all examples. Not that many home grown talents or experienced heads these days

No they play now in the Championship until they are about 30 then get a gig in the premiership as second or third choice on double or triple of what they have earned previously

These young keepers  will struggle to get any higher than the championship.

When i was about 12 i could name most of the players in the top 2 leagues, these days i could maybe name 2 or 3 from City, arsenal, Liverpool or Newcastle.

Couldn't name 1 at Sunderland, leeds, Brighton, wolves Bournemouth, Burnley brentford etc.

We have had some great keepers in the past that have saved our skin and saved points we don't seem to be able to find one at the moment I think they expect the goal keeper to do to much these days

don’t want a second fiddle though do we? Surely we need a good reliable No1?

So is TSL, gone, out of favor, or just ill.

2nd fiddle at a champ club may well be good enough 1st choice at a L1 club? only time will tell I guess if he comes in

I’d say Baxter was good enough for us an he’s now 2nd fiddle at a similarly placed champ club

We're all getting sidetracked here talking about goalkeepers

We need a proven goalscorer, a fox in box. Otherwise mid table again.

Maybe a full back to replace Cogley, bastard midfielder and dominant centre half that organises the defense properly.

Blimey.

You'd think we'd not progressed at all in the past 12 months.

Where's the £10m coming from? :D

The players are not to blame for this wash.

Do we need a full back to replace Cogley, yes, but that's because he's been frozen out of the squad for some reason.

Because he's pretty average, turning 30 and by all accounts is one game away from getting an automatic year extension to his contract and the club/manager don't want to trigger it.

Rumours are Miller has already gone and Cogley had a fall out with SS after Luton.

All from twitter that

Oh and he's one game away from getting an automatic year extension to his contract and the club/manager don't want to trigger it.

Notwithstanding this is via Twitter ... it's all a bit of a fckg shambles isn't it.

& the keepers are purely down to the current regime, whether Schumacher or Harkin.
