You don’t even have to try to be a dipstick do you? Instead of constantly proving what a total prat you are why don’t you just occasionally try to offer a sensible comment?

We are past sensible when people think we just arrive at January and it's one big lucky dip as to who's leaving and who's coming in.

All these deals will be the making for ages and there will be strategies in place, that's what Fergal and his gang are paid to do.

With 3 weeks to go it's hardly panic stations to get people off the books so we can bring people in like has been suggested on here.

They'll know who's surplus and who's they can bring in already regardless of our ill-informed conjecture on here and elsewhere.

True but it’s amusing reading the huge variance in opinion as to who should go - already we’ve seen Schumachers “failures” and Evatt’s “failures” which pretty much accounts for the entire team.

Id be surprised if the planning to target specific players is that far advanced though given that our performances dipped very recently, budget relates to sales and targets may well have changed.

I just hope the manager knows what he’s doing.

I agree with all of that but I don’t recall issuing panic stations in any post I made. You see you can make sensible responses when you want to so I don’t understand why you have to try and make cynical embarks when it’s not necessary. 🤷‍♂️😁

Yep, seems to fit the bill of player that Pep can fuck up.

This is quite sterile compared to this place of years gone by.......you had to be pretty thick skinned then 😀

Without any new signings, the players we have in the squad are good enough, as they've proved earlier in the season, its up to SS to get them playing again in a system that suits them.

Not taking into account contract situations, players worth keeping of those that SS gives starts to (assuming we're in L1):

Johnston, Toal, Conway, Sheehan, Simons, EE, Dempsey, Gale, Tutu.  Forino and McAtee OK as back up but assume they'll go.

Your thoughts are pretty much mine Tutu, Johnston and Dempsey are all out of contract....Would not be bothered if we offered terms or got rid................I can see both sides

I said at end of last season and l there was not a player in the squad I would be sad to see leave. Of the current permanent players probably Conway and maybe Sheehan but not really anyone who feels like would be a disaster if they left.

Pretty telling isn't it, my first season watching us was the 96/97 championship romp, from that team you'd probably only say the same thing about the fullbacks that season, any other player leaving would have been turmoil!

Branagan, Fairclough, Taggart, Sellers, Tomo, Frandsen, Johannson, Blake, SJM.

If we could pluck 1, 2 or even 3 of that ilk from somewhere!

Tbf the full backs were the first to be replaced, too, with Elliott and Cox coming in during the summer. Bryan Small being the 22nd man of the 21 man brawl v Wolves and doing kick ups on the touchline will never stop being funny.

If SS can't get them playing then it matters little who he brings in.

We've sunk into a shadow of our earlier performances. Reverted to tippy-tap and not providing any forward with opportunities. Lack of belief, lack of ideas. Get back to the fast, incisive, play of Autumn time. We could have prime Shearer up there right now & we'd still not be scoring.

That wasn't happening away from home, or if it was it wasn't resulting in shots on target or goals.

I agree the home form has dropped off and we need to get that back on track, but in the next 2 weeks its only the away form that matters and it would take a massive turnaround for this squad to start creating and taking enough chances and/or keeping a clean sheet.

We haven't been on par with an acceptable league position or points total once this season, not even after 1 or 2 games never mind 9 or 10 or 15 or 16.  There seems to be a misconception that just because we've got worse recently, all was well earlier.  If the target was play offs, fine, but not being able to keep up with Stevenage, Bradford and Lincoln was never the plan, and we've been under performing since day one away from home.

If we don't keep them, we'd better have some decent replacements lined up (assuming injuries/fitness not an issue).  Because they won't be dropping below our level, they'll get decent clubs and unlike Vic, JDC or Randall for eg, they aren't players I'd want us to be facing playing for Wigan or Stockport etc.

I thought that about Collins and Baxter, but I didn't realise who the replacements would be.  Careful what you wish for.

Very true it’s been an under performing season so far the target ss been too 2 .
May be with so many changes would always going to take time but we’re well past that now were in the period were teams have sussed us out with there  block bit  like evatt were the high press did us .  this I were a good manager finds a way by the end of Jan hopefully he will have the personal to change tactics when needed . Hopefully he isn’t just moving the deck chairs on the titanic and it’s going to be like for like signings

That’s a Championship team, though, some of whom came down from the Premier League with us.

A more relevant comparison might be the team that Bruce Rioch built in 1992/93, to take us up from the third tier. Especially, the “cheap” forward partnership of Andy Walker (Phil Neal signing, the season before) and John McGinlay (one of Bruce’s first signings).
