Forgive me for posting transfer gossip, but I've just seen we appear to be signing Stephenson permanently

I'd assume he'd be a loan signing for some reason

He also seems to be being described as a midfielder rather than a defender, but sounds like a promising signing either way

Transfer gossip posting would be very welcome. I'm looking forward to the forum returning to normal, as it always has when posters have come in hard upsetting the equilibrium.

7 years is nothing, I've had grudges for 4 decades that I don't even remember why they started. Your attention farming in the financial troubles and your posts since returning are fresh in my mind.

Well if you are going to hold a never ending grudge in respect of me then at least do so for what I actually did and not what you thought I was doing.

My career was in Company Law, at the time of the Administration I explained how those laws applied to the responsibility of the owners of BWFC (Inner Circle Investment Ltd) and the shareholders of that company (Kenneth Anderson).

I did so over the concern of our club and the overwhelming lack of understanding of our fans as to how the laws applied.

There was zero 'attention farming' as you put it from me rather 100% intent to give everyone a better understanding of what was actual legal reality.

If you are going to put me on your naughty step for life, then at least do so for what I did and not what you thought I did.

Honestly, why do you care what I think? The fact is if I didn't post for 6 years and then popped up again no one would notice because I'm a completely innocuous poster. You reappeared after 6 years and multiple posters instantly responded negatively. Maybe show a bit of self awareness and reflect on that. You pissed people off then and have straight away done the same. You won't hear from me again.

Stick him on ignore.   Quite a few made my list in the past couple of days.

Just stick Slutty on ignore, you won't regret it....

My point is that he's a different type of playmaker and as we saw at the start of the season SS isn't wedded to having Sheehan start.

Just read this from one of today's articles by Ilse...

Watson was a target for Bolton in January which was being worked on up to the final day of the transfer window – but despite bidding £500,000 for his services, his club opted to hold firm because the playmaker was such an important part of their squad.

So to give you your due, it does indeed seem to be exactly what you were saying (although it may not mean he replaces Sheehan, maybe they will play alongside each other perhaps?).

Anyway fair play to you, I would imagine you may be also correct that our style of play will change this season if we are have (subject to being announced officially) signed a different style of playmaker to how we played in the season just gone.

However it does beg the question to my mind though that if we tried to sign him in January (when we also brought in two more wingers) then he would have had to play to the system we then had (still have?) and also if we presumably wanted to replace Sheehan as playmaker (SS not being wedded to him at the start of last season as you say) why then give him a two year extension to his contract three weeks after the window shutting?

I guess all will be revealed as the new season gets underway.

I thought he was a Dempsey-type who is equally adept as a 6, 8 or 10

Who said that ?????

He certainly looked it on his highlight reel from 2025.

Maybe the intention was to sign him to play in Dempsey's role for the remainder of last season, as Dempsey was by then becoming a peripheral squad player towards the end?

Maybe he IS Dempsey's replacement - there must be a reason why we tried to sign him AND give Sheehan a two year contract extension at more or less the same time as each other?

I guess we will have to see how he fits in / whether there is a change of playing style or not, once the season gets underway.

I don't think signing him in January was ever realistic, especially when RR became available who is playing a similar role

Still too early but a fee of £700k is being bandied about by several sources and the description seems to be a creative defensive midfielder, whatever that is.

Some scousers feel that if true, it would be a steal.

But we know from experience that “several sources” is often lots of people repeating what one person said.

It won't be all up-front either, so instalments make it a lot more palatable

Yeah, my immediate thought was a Dempsey upgrade

It's almost like I know what I'm talking about, rarely recognised on here. Thanks :)

I've only just taken on board that Luca Stephenson was at Dundee Utd. during the season Sam Dalby was up there & scored a hateful.

Maybe there's already a chemistry there.

Before you get too excited, that comment did come from Lies at the Bolton News!

And bid £1.5mil for Sidibe according to that.

Charlton very much in the category of club we're hopefully competing with so it will be interesting to compare their squad to our's in 3 months

Bolton Wonders. 😀

Also, if they're willing to pay £950K for a player we've released, then I'm happy enough with that.

They might be paying Tutu £950k but its nothing to do with us.

Maybe, impressive if "Albie" (whoever he is) is aware of a salary offer at this stage.

Tutu turned down a contract to sign for Charlton on a free that’s the real story
