Sheehan didnt really start he season poorly, he didnt start until like October and to be fair to him, when he first come in he was being played weird SS even tried him as a 10 for a little while.

Nobody apart from ACD and Burstow really started the season well. No surprise it was really a re-build from the season before.

Every chance it will be the same again this coming season. Though i think SS will want to get his targets in early

And nobody started the season really poor either we just kind of limped through until Christmas........Very like Evatt first season

Did he?

Which game(s) was that then?

All I remember is some folk suggesting SS should do that.

Simons started the season well, certainly upto the Wigan game.

And the limping through was a common theme throughout the season.  Hard to think of a spell when we looked convincing in the 46 game season, yes we had 3 consecutive good wins (Hudds, Cardiff, Vale) - that was probably our peak - then 4 consecutive wins (Orient, Burton, Wimbledon, Barnsley) but 1 goal wins v bottom half teams isn't exactly convincing and there were plenty grumbles in the first 2 of those.

We literally saved our best form for the play offs, which makes a change!  Our 3 best consecutive games of the season by a distance, 3 games we were leading before injury time for the first time, and against good opposition.  A pity the season ended really 😀

Getting on for 18 months ago now but I saw Turkey v Wales which was pretty much a play off for the Nations League and Sheehan was MoM.

Indeed.
I was in Turkey at the time, watched it on TV with a loads of locals.

Game was 0-0 in Kayseri and Sheehan was brilliant.

That sends a shiver down my spine

I see that 11 and think we've got a great core to start from. Yes we'll need more players, but all those 11 could have decent impact in the championship imo.

No need to panic buy, just look for improvements over the summer.

That 11 would not get out of lge2

Nonsense.

That XI would piss League 2.
Definitely not good enough for the Championship, though.

That 11 (minus ACD) pretty much has just got promoted from league 1, so I don't buy that.

I get that everyone is panicking for signings, but I don't see the need to downplay the abilities of the current squad. We're in a strong position with a good core and can add more quality in 6/7 more players over the summer. No worries

he started 4 out the first ten, on the bench for 5, don't think was a reflection on him, the middle two changed pretty much every game

That sort of team played Walsall and Swindon the last two years and got beat both games

That sort of team lost last season at vale and Northampton who will be in lge2 next season.....We are not as good as many believe now the loan players have departed. Hope no more than four of them eleven start in August

He might well be a cock lusty but to be fair to him he does his homework and his posts are usually based on facts. Whether you like, agree with or dispute those facts as I often do on Nuts is your choice but calling for people to be banned because you don’t agree with them isn’t very fair so if you don’t like his posts just don’t read them. I regularly do that when I see how long they are. 😁

Thank you W63, I appreciate someone talking sense about me for a change.

No need for him to be banned though i think he just goes off on one and says things about others to suit his agenda.

Two on me yesterday was my hatred for Evatt......I never agreed with Evatt the last two years of his tenure but i never hated the guy.

And where he thinks i said Sheehan started the season badly i have no idea.......Just random made up quotes from him.

Many agree and disagree with me on here, but i dont want them banned......That would only leave a handful left

Likewise although you DO get the wrong end of the stick at some of the things I say even after giving you examples of what I meant in my first of my TWO separate replies to you about your misconception...

When I've talked about your 'hatred' of Evatt and his signings I'm not talking about your personal hatred - shout shite at him or his signings, I'm talking about the word in a general sense - I hate that Evatt doesn't change the way his team plays, I hate Schumacher still selecting Evatt signings.

I'm not suggesting that you hate anyone enough to kill them or anything?

...and

I also have never claimed you have used the word hate in your comments about Evatt or his signings - as I've already explained to you in my previous post.

ACD, Blackett Taylor, Kenny , Burstow,  Cissoko,,Johnston and TuTu  had no part then??

That 11 did not get us promotion

CBT played 7 games. Most of that XI played a lot more.

Think you have lost more than 50% of both goals and assists.........That 11 have just ben relegated

Course there's others that contributed. My point is that that 11 is a good, lean core of a squad that could all contribute to a good season next year. We're not carrying a bloated squad full of dross we have to move on (apart from Taylor) and have space to add quality to that current squad.

No need to panic

It wasn’t one element or one section of players.

It was the combination and SS’s selection and management of these players that was the key.

We all know that side that swanny has put out wouldn’t survive in the championship - but there’s some who will have a real say and impact next year.

I agree with what you are saying but we have that 11 plus Three more keepers, Randall, Simons, Warren, Taylor, Inwood, Temple and Sharples and even Ritchie who will be wanting to be around the first team next season.......That is 22 in total stil at the club. Some of the youngsters will get loaned out again which will bring it down to about 15 or sixteen of which i see 5 tops starting and another 4/5 on the bench.......Think we have another 5 or six to go including three or four of that 11

Ok, we are now getting somewhere in that you are now admitting your hatred for Evatt arose at the same time he reached his glass ceiling as I described in my last post.

Where we differ is that you reflect that hatred on to his players as well and can't accept that it wasn't the players to blame for Evatt's failure to change his one dimensional game plan that other teams managers had now cracked.

Those players (as in the case with the united players under Amorim now under Carrick) were always good players but didn't flourish under one coaches system but thrived under another.

Toal, Sheehan, Forino, Johnston, Tutu and McAtee to a slightly lesser extent were all integral to our promotion success - they were half the team for the second half of the season ffs, so I suggest your constant hatred to 'get rid of ALL the Evatt players' mantra since Schumacher was appointed has been misplaced at best and totally irrational at worst.

If Harkin/Schumacher believe some or all of the five remaining first team Evatt signings (including Randall) can do a job for them in the Championship they will remain with us, if they don't they will be moved out - nothing to do who signed them back then and all to do with 'can they do a job for me' now.

In respect of the general discussions on Richard Taylor, if he has done what others on here have reported (drink drive, domestic abuse) then the club is no doubt helping him behind the scenes to sort his life out.  I would not expect to see him play football for us again until he's sorted out his demons.

I suspect we won't see him play for the club again and that he will make a fresh start for himself someplace else away from here.

Sluffy read that top line.....The one you never said

What we might actually have now are a couple of saleable assets, you couldn't have said that around Christmas time.

Forino, Sheehan, Conway, etc would actually command a fee these days when you couldn't have given them away this time last year.
