We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Fair play, you’ve been very consistent with this opinion and line of thinking.

I really hope you are right, as it will make BWFC better in the short and (with It being a permanent deal) long term.

I just thought with the way Trafford finished the season we had a real talent on our hands.

I like Trafford, and we did have a talent on our hands, but good as he is, experienced forwards like SKD in his pomp would have tormented the fuck out of him on corners and free kicks. It says a lot for the game these days that keepers have to be protected by one or more outfield players.
Mind you there aren’t many with the physique of a Shilton or Gilks.

It was good seeing Trafford growing and progressing and I hope we’ve contributed to a great keeper wherever he goes.

Signed by Todd/McFarland for our 1st season in Prem wasn't he?  I always assumed he moved back to Scotland after failing here, but he then played for Fulham, Bradford and Cambridge.  Only played 103 games in his career.  According to Wiki the £900k we paid Raith is still the biggest fee they've ever received.  Even now that would be massive for a club of their size.  Wierd signing.

Another jock was Steve Fulton who I thought was decent but he only played a handful of games

Going off on a tangent here but Shilton cost us the world cups in 86 and 90 the shitty shortarse cunt

Yes there are probably better examples to give. But the point is recruitment is not an exact science. I am just delighted that we can improve the whole squad by signing our own players. Unbelievable considering we where three years ago.

It is.

As an aside Maxwell was less than 5' 9". Even in those days short for a keeper.

Trafford was a key part of the strongest area of last season's team, the defence.

He'll certainly be missed & I expect there will be some early problems as we integrate the new keeper but IE knew this was coming so i'm hopeful that Baxter was well researched & will fit in fairly quickly. A couple of impressive early games will help but going off his interview, he seems a confident bloke.

I agree with all that and absolve that not quite as shitty but even shorter arse cheating Argy cunt of all charges.

That's why I only mentioned physique, not height, nor relative shittiness.

With our solid defence, and the kind fixture list, I'm hopeful that after a few games we'll be none the wiser on his shot stopping ability! (if not his distribution etc).

These prem loans, things may have changed now with how well we are run and the fine seasons traff and Bradley had , my thinking is these top prem clubs may now be coming to us saying we have young Jonny Smith who would fit perfect into your system etc, do you fancy him ?   Markham/evatt then doing there homework and giving it a yes/no

Where as pre traff/Bradley was it a case of us going knocking asking if they had any youngsters that fancy a loan and then taking whoever.

Would be nice to think that things have gone kind of this way with the trust and everything that goes with it.

(It is a Sunday,no football and no racing till later so apologies for overthinking this topic as to much time ok me hands)

No you're right - that is the point.

If we can develop a reputation around the top european clubs for bringing on quality prospects we'll be laughing.

Especially as may or not be the case these days, the parent club picks up payment of part of their wages. We've had a good reputation over the years for bigger clubs loaning us their players, and it still seems to be the case.

Mind you if Sharon and Evatt can't persuade them, nobody can.

Nixon saying we’re keeping an eye on Danny Mayor..

seemed quite a technically decent player whenever we’ve played Plymouth but very little end product..

Wilson or Baccus to sign today please 🙏

I wondered how long it'd be till Wiggin reverted to scouting type & simply followed us around.

Mayor's the fckr who fouled Sheehan & should have gone off.

As opposed to Cosgrove, the fckr who fouled Toal & should have gone off, been brought back on so he could be sent of a second time.

Mayor is tidy, a leader and knows the division. He's also 32 now & no resale value if that's Markham's m.o. With Shedhan & Dempsey, Possibly Baccus & Flick, along with Thomasson too I'm not sure there's room.

Don’t see thomasson featuring much, personally I’d loan him out

MJ isn’t going to get a sniff either aside from an auxiliary centre half

Knowing us we will have an injury crisis and he will have to step in at some point
