I can name players from eras, but definitely wouldn't be able to pin games or players names to a particular year or even within 2 or 3 years. Just a blur of merged memories last 20 years. 81-82 clear as a whistle, who played, the best wins etc. It's crazy isn't it , I struggle with a lot of the latter premier League seasons also but remember the 95 and 97 season pretty well even now. Sort of, couldn't sign anyone after march Also Taylor was initially a one month loan Remember them? Are they still even a thing? Not heard of one in years Quote

Leyther_Matt Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 Franz Carr played against Liverpool in November so was a November signing. Possibly post-Beardsley but not sure. Quote

It was fairly routine to sign someone for a month, now it feels like a fairly big commitment on both sides to get someone on loan, I wish they'd bring it back. Could try before you buy, like Mark Seagraves in the 90s, or send 'em back sharpish like Mike Ring and Nigel Jemson. Or extend a month or 2 - Andy Dibble IIRC. Quote
gonzo Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 Them two scotchers we signed in 99 were belters. Ritchie and Johnstone Quote
gonzo Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 Sounds like a BBC Scottish detective drama. Quote

Signed for them on a Bosman but Hearts loaned him to us rather than playing him themselves or let him go to Rangers early. Finally goes to Rangers in the summer and they decide to sell him to Man City without him ever playing a game. Quote

Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted December 23, 2023 Site Supporter Posted December 23, 2023 With these rumours around Charles; if he was snapped up by someone higher up, who would you look at as a replacement? Just a talking point, as I don't think he'll go, but I've no idea who would be suitable. I note that both Stevenage and Northampton have a player each with a decent goal record this season, and maybe that's the type we'd have to look at, but in general, I've no idea. Quote
