Weren't 2 of them virtual back passes, Wycombe and Shrewsbury?  But I've no problem with players having a shot on target from 20 yards.  Keepers do make a hash of them, or it takes a "cruel" deflection.  4 shots on target out of 21 at Lincoln, a lot to be said just for asking the keeper to work.

On form, Maghoma does stuff that others aren't capable of, running with the ball over distance, beating a man, being physically stronger than his opponent.  Also cross of the season for me at Pompey onto JDBs head, that should have resulted in a Charles goal.

‘On form’ is the reason why he’s in L1 with us at the moment.

He’s great when he’s on form, we saw it for a run of 4-5 games where he was taking the ball on the half turn, drifting past players, scoring goals etc.. But he’s not always been at that level this season, with his last few appearances looking slightly out of form.

I’d say it’s just to be expected of a young midfielder at this level who is still relatively inexperienced in professional football. Hopefully he has more of his ‘on form’ games than not, because he’s a game changer when he is at his best and like @Johnnyrotten says, he can do things that others in our team can’t, but we are in a lucky position at the moment where we have strong midfield options if he’s not at his best.

I think he has shown though that he has the ability to play at a higher level, he’ll just need to improve consistency.

Swansea and Hull looking to sign Dion Charles according to the Belfast telegraph. 5 million being cited.

No chance.

I can't see it but the Balfast Telegraph aren't some teenager with a blog

If any club offers that kind of money he'll be gone in a flash imo

Be reet got Vic

Hull are in the playoff places and might be of interest to Dion.

Swansea are very much at the wrong end, and it's not inconceivable that we could swap places next season.

Stay here and the likely scenario is he is in the same league next season anyway.

We would definitely consider £5M - bought for 320k. That's the business plan.

The player has to want it too remember.

He’s under contract, he only goes if they meet our valuation.

Indeed

I'll rephrase, if any club offers that figure it'll be accepted without a second thought

I'm sure we would.

Very much a GT situation- I'd be very surprised if he gave Swansea a second thought.

Like I said, Hull may be tempting, but he would likely get a pay rise here too should we gain promotion.

Can't see Swansea shelling that out in their position

Hull might

If the club genuinely wants to get in the championship it doesn't sell its top goal scorer and best chance of getting in the championship

Tell them to fuck off then sell him in the summer whether we get promoted or not because if a championship club think he's with £5m now then he will be in the summer

Yes, but the lads are suggesting we'd accept that figure, which may well be the case.

If so, then who knows.

£5mil is pie in the sky, if its half that snatch their hands off (he's good, but not that good).

Would be surprising if Swansea are interested, they don't even have a permanent manager yet.

Good point. Could offer him new contract with a get out clause if we don't go up, and a rise if we do.

Madine was "worth" £6mil in January and about half a mil in the summer!

Get 1.5m and he’s off. We aren’t good enough to hold for £5m

Is it?

If we were to sell, we would need to bring in a ready made replacement- no time for bedding in.

Plus, some extra to build elsewhere, or we're taking all the risk with no real gain.

I don't think we'd entertain that.

Promotion would yield more than that in increased revenue.

It would need to be bigger I reckon.

We were gonna sell Thomason for less than a mill for a club who’d banked £24m for his predecessor.

I could see his missus fancying a change of scenery also.

All valid points, but we have a recruitment team that must take that into account, not doing their job if they aren't.  We aren't  talking about a player that's an 8 out of 10 every week, he's decent, but there are alternatives.  To be clear I would be gutted if he or Santos left, I'm simply talking about the fee.  I would have said Charles would go if it was £1mil (£2mil for Santos?) never mind £5mil, this is L1 not championship.

Again, good points.  But keeping Charles doesn't guarantee promotion by any stretch, losing Charles doesn't mean we miss out on promotion.  If he gets injured tomorrow its a blow but I'd still fancy us for top 6.  Yes we'd have to sign someone by the end of Jan who's half decent, not necessarily with same goals potential.
