I don't think we'd entertain that.

Promotion would yield more than that in increased revenue.

It would need to be bigger I reckon.

Again, good points.  But keeping Charles doesn't guarantee promotion by any stretch, losing Charles doesn't mean we miss out on promotion.  If he gets injured tomorrow its a blow but I'd still fancy us for top 6.  Yes we'd have to sign someone by the end of Jan who's half decent, not necessarily with same goals potential.

We were gonna sell Thomason for less than a mill for a club who’d banked £24m for his predecessor.

Bit different to say the least. I doubt they would have accepted that fee then for a proven striker.

Now, we're half way through, not at the start.

FV aren't naive and will see the potential now is far greater than 5 months or so ago.

They can see the light, and are in a stronger position to gamble.

Lots of ifs.

The most likely if though is if he stays we have a better chance if going up than if he goes.

Hope you’re right. They’ve never denied we have to do this. I suspect we get an offer of what I said, then he’s off.

Tbf to Charles he’s been improving for the last 3 seasons so he’s not a one season wonder

take Vic who’s got no previous apart from half a season at burton and we paid 500k, I think Charles would be in the region of 2m

More realistic.

Probably just tittle tattle though; are Swansea even in a position to be making such bids?

He’s under contract, he only goes if they meet our valuation.

It was in response to TMGJ saying Charles may prefer to stay as we are a better bet.

Although that approach didnt work out too well for Accrington, with ermmm, Dion Charles.

Never in a million years is anyone offering £5m. If someone offered £3m+ and our board didn’t accept it, I’d be concerned about the business savviness of our board.

Depends who he's replaced with.  Could be enough for a loan fee for a young championship or Prem player.  Or just get Jordan Rhodes!  Or Jamie Reid.   I know its not that simple, that's IEs job.

They’ll accept far less

If Charles was to leave who would be everyone's realistic replacement?

Mrs has passed out and left me on the couch watching "the nations best loved kareoke songs" with the dog

Is this what we get new years eve normally?? You Can sing along to abba right now on channel 5 if anyone else has been left high n dry for the night

And on that note, I always fancied the blonde one in abba.........Bjorn, I think his name was...

I’d like to keep him as I don’t financially gain and it’s working. The scouse Iranian lad from Wimbledon if he goes though.

Al-Hamadi or Joe Taylor for me

Or with that kind of fee, maybe Clarke-Harris as well

What's all this fuss about Clarke-Harris, did kak in the championship last time he played up there and he's 30 now..  and not doing great this season,

Deffo not a keeper for the future with potential.

Except it is. He can refuse to leave, or refuse to sign for a specific club.

He can, but first the club have to agree a fee to allow him to talk to the interested club, he can’t just decide to leave for 5k extra per week.

In theory, they are only offering him extra if they get the nod from us in the first place.

Is Clarke Harris the one who is out of contract at the end of the season?

Think Peterborough prefer to sell rather than lose for nothing for any player reaching the end of their contract

Though they may decide not to sell to us, given the situation between the clubs league wise in January

He’s dog shit. His clearance in the play off semi lost them the game and he isn’t a starter. I’d be amazed if he was on the radar

57 goals in his last 81 matches in the third tier, and out of favour at his current club ad therefore available

If we end up looking fir a quick fix to help get us up, he'd be a good bet

IE explained at the end of August why he's not interested in Clarke Harris, not his type of player.

He's scored 99 in 191 games in 4 years for Peterboro/Bristol Rovers, I suppose that's what the fuss is about.  What he did in the championship isn't relevant to how this season pans out for us and the others, I know he isn't coming here but I wouldn't want him to end up at Derby or Pompey.
