We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Don’t want to Madine to leave he’s a big player for us but if silly money comes in we can replace and still stay up. I’m certainly not getting worried about losing him, we’ve lost far better players and come out the other end stronger.

Amen to that. Folk were hysterical when clough went.

If he goes he goes. Fuck him.

was they? I thought most agreed clough was good business and it was looking what it financed coming in

I can’t help think even if we get 1m or 5m for a player with no buyers of yet for the club very little will be made for transfers

Ken said at the hotel that time it’s looking like 3 loans in January

Madine is a must stay I’d rather not risk

Your obviously not on twatter :D

when you're in the form of your life its a big risk to disrupt that for what might be a very short term gain.

The other way of looking at it is that he could revert to type and go back to being biz, and then his stock will fall....he is, as you say in the form of his life, it might not get any better for him

For what it's worth, I'd rather he stayed unless we get silly money offered. No matter what we get for him though, I doubt Parky will get to spend too much of it

I think we've always struggled to replace players crucial to our team and system. See when Campo went or Kevin Davies or even Craig Dawson. I think we've been fairly good recently when selling good players at making the side stronger at least in the short term.

Holding and Clough for example.

But neither were particularly central to what we were doing. Clough was a good player in league one, a very good player, but his output wasn't high enough to be irreplaceable.

Madine's goals, assists and overall play, I struggle to see replacing in this window. Teams don't want to sell players at this stage so it takes a premium to get them to do so, especially strikers. We're skint, even if we get big money for Gaz.

Yep, probably more realistic.

But if you think like that you're not confident in yourself as a player and any move will more than likely be a negative one.

I think most footballers back themselves. Madine will think he can keep improving. Why move from the club and manager who are slowly turning you round from no hoper to in demand top championship striker?

Rumour being again linked with Pilkington at Cardiff

Probably any bid from Cardiff will be a little cash with Noone and Pilkington coming our way.

Several thousand pounds a week pay rise maybe.

Losing Madine would be disastrous for us but we're not in a position to turn down a silly bid & January is a seller's market......£10M  ??

we may owe something, i guess

I'm hearing that taking this Everton lad was a condition of being allowed to keep Robinson.

Us signing a lightweight number 10 type is pointless unless we change the way we play

We don’t use a lightweight 9 and unless Vela moves on he’s not going to play. Out wide we have Ameobi, Morais, Noone, Buckley and more.

Not sure I get the point?

I think he will be midfield utility for you, not really a number 10.

we may owe something, i guess

Wasnt he a free transfer?

he was, but there can be bits and bieces associated with any deal

even under embargo  :)

Maybe they are hoping that he is an improvement from morais, noone, buckley.
