We paid a (reported) lot of money for a shit winger to play out of position as a wing back as our system had nothing to do with wingers.

Can’t question his effort and I wish him well, but he was a shocker of a signing.

I can't argue with how daft the reported fee was (he's not alone in that when it comes to IE signings) but I wasn't so much thinking about the fee, as players that brought a collective groan when picked.  As much as he isn't a top player, I never dreaded him being in the team, just a bit of frustration he wasn't better.  Without mentioning names there were others above him in the list of "oh shit" when we heard the line ups!

I have mentioned him about a handful of times since he went, that name i have never mentioned once very cringeworthy

This was about the team Schumacher selected yesterday and nothing to do with ANY points you state.

Schon, i think, was the only signing that Ludonautics had an input on.

Everyone (board, manager, fans) overreacted to what happened at Wembley. It was a humbling day (though everyone, myself included, went to Wembley that day with a certain amount of arrogance that it was a foregone conclusion).

In hindsight, had Sharon come out in support of IE early on and calmed people down and had Evatt stuck to his guns and tweaked personnel rather than systems (and stayed away from the diet pills), we would have had a better chance last season (we wouldn't have gone up as we couldn't compete financially with Wrexham and Brum).

Anyway, Schon is symptomatic of that overreaction. A tidy player, someone who always gave his all, but played out of position and thrust into a club still reeling.

Seems a good lad and hope he finds somewhere for his career to settle. Far from our biggest problem last season, but most definitely not an SS player.

Just been told Burnden Aces have offered to take him on loan till end of season with a view to buy.

Zico wants cash up front so is standing firm.

I would say many of them didn't appear good enough last season.

SS seems to be turning them around slowly, so he may also have improved. 

As the manager doesn't see him fitting in to his set up though, it is right that he goes.

I think he probably likes Schon's application (but not his lack of end product). Simply put, he's upgraded on him and he's down the pecking order. Can imagine he's a pretty expensive player to keep around if he's not high up the list

he needs to prove himself on here, that he's 100% with us and not paying lip service to the opposition

Shon works hard but is too lightweight for EFL1. He's got good pace but poor end product and no defensive skills at all. He's also built like a 14 year old and easy pushed off the ball. Good luck to him if he's leaving though.

I feel a bit sorry for Schon. We clearly signed a winger, who was being asked to play as a wing back; his highlight reel only showed him in forward positions, crossing or shooting.

His first few games he was defensively naive and very poor, but going forward he looked very good. Evatt then drummed the defensive side and retention of possession into him, to such an extent that it neutralised his attacking intent.

Evatt leaves and Schumacher wants out and out wingers, with full backs supporting them and looking after the defensive side!

In my opinion, Evatt and his process ruined him. I wonder how things would have turned out, if he was just joining now, as a winger. As it is, with recognition of his effort and likeability, moving on is the right thing for everyone.

He's not played as a winger!

It is clear that the manager wants the wide fellas to have pace and to get in behind.

Schon isn't going to do that, so he's not going to feature.

Conway done more in two games than he did during his loan spell

Newcastle highly rate him, got high hopes for him, but never saw anything to suggest he's a decent PL player in the making

Folk said similar about Alonso- he got pelters. There will be numerous examples, all over, of young ones not making it at one club, but succeeding elsewhere.

Certainly wouldn't judge him on last season, given it all went to rat shit.

I reckon that if Taylor hadn't been injured, he would have been first pick for the left back spot, and Conway wouldn't have had the opportunity to shine as he has.

Good on him for grasping his chance.

you could see Beck wasn't, neither was Shoretire, Mbete,  etc etc

I was just going off what Newcastle fans thought about him from what they'd seen and said ahead of him signing for us

he was surpisingly average at best

He had a rough first few games, then was alright by the end, but it got ended early anyway? His subsequent loans suggest there is a player there

There's been times where he's been in position to show he can beat his marker and cross in and he's not really shown he has the ability to do so often enough

Bradley was and is an exceptional player, and has made the top grade quickly. 

Not many do so.

Others won't, but that doesn't mean they won't have a reasonable career at the higher level.

Bradley wasn't here last season neither, when it had gone to shit.

I certainly wouldn't want to swap them, Conway looks to have much greater potential.

As for Schon....seems a good bloke who always gave it everything, but he's so far down the pecking order ( 5th choice winger !! )that he'd be better off moving on.  Good luck to him.

SS saying we're still on the lookout for a suitable striker.

Reading between the lines, I'm not sure they regard it as high a priority as they did before Burstow.

If the right chap becomes available then great.

I think we have to have another, purely for times like this. We don’t have a replacement for Burstow when he’s knackered and if he were to be injured then we don’t have a striker to play the next game.

We can’t go until January with 2 recognised strikers - I’d rather see Dan brought back into the mix, and that’s saying something!

aye, and so did Trafford, also highly rated

but my point was, he's already highly rated at Newcastle, they have high hopes and have tied him down to a long contract - this is a club with big ambitions

but I didn't see anything special there, he's was no better or worse than other loanees from big clubs who've now left and playing at a lower level like Beck, Shoretire, and Dan, of course

he may go out to be outstanding in the PL for Newcastle, we'll see
