We didn't and wouldn't

So they've given him a new contract, which is probably what he wanted 

They'll might look to send him on loan, whether that could be to us or not remains to be seen 

I hope we do get him on loan because we've been after him all summer 

Or go out and sign someone who has a proven track record of scoring goals at this or a similar level, because that's what we're missing

FWIW I don't care who we sign, as in I'm happy to let SS get on with it.  I can't think of one signing he's made that I've both heard of and seen play in the flesh, so I'm not going to start judging them for a while.

We've never made a bid that matched their reported valuation, and nobody on here has the slightest idea whether he's about to turn up here on loan.

Well we made our best offer to Celtic and they turned it down and now we know the reason why. They wanted to look at him before making a decision. They haven’t fucked us about and we haven’t been fucked about it’s what happens these days. Celtic may now let him come on loan to develop and if he does that here and gets us promoted I won’t complain.

Do we even know a bid was actually made, and rejected?  

Most of our transfers this season have been made without a hint in the press until announced.

How official do you want transfer targets and bids to be? 

Clubs don't announce anything but signings 

If the rumours are correct (QPR, PNE & Wycombe) then it's a good chance to get an auction going for Johnston, the lad was going to leave us on a free before his did his ACL so fetch in a get a decent fee for him before he looks to do it again. Get an older head in as a replacement to add some experience to the back line & solid a partner for Toal. Like most have said we have all these CB's yet nobody really knows who's the best two out of the lot because they're injury prone & inconsistent
