Newcastle highly rate him, got high hopes for him, but never saw anything to suggest he's a decent PL player in the making

That bad I'd forgotten all about him already.

Conway reminds me of CB. Just lacking thatittle but if extra pace - but looks plenty good enough for our level and might end up becoming a decent saleable asset if things don't go the way we hope.

We need someone to play off Burstow and Dalby so until Vics fit we still need that other box player. Kenny would have been that type but it may not happen now so I’ll just trust SS to decide who fits the bill.

Nobody knows if Kenny is that player. He’s hardly played any games of a decent standard. He has similar stats to warren so why not just stick with him

Well I’m assuming SS has seen him or other staff so I’m trusting them but for me I’d agree with you that Warren could do the job but then we haven’t seen much of him either yet so like I said I’ll just leave it to SS.

We don't play with 2 up front.

We play with 2 wingers/attacker with one up front and a no 10.

That no 10 is Randall or McAtee.

I can actually see Vic doing that role quite well

That's a big call.

Imo he'd be certainly better than CMG off the left too if Gayle isn't fit or whatever.

Just thinking back to when he scored a hat-trick of the same goal crossed in from the right.  Holding it up isn't his forte, we know that, but with someone else doing that it might be an option

I think we have to have another, purely for times like this. We don’t have a replacement for Burstow when he’s knackered and if he were to be injured then we don’t have a striker to play the next game.

We can’t go until January with 2 recognised strikers - I’d rather see Dan brought back into the mix, and that’s saying something!

Yes, I agree.

I just get the impression from how he phrased it, that he won't be rushed and will wait.

I think that Warren has impressed him more than anticipated in pre-season and is happy to put him in the squad, so there is little point in bringing in someone who is similarly unproven.

What will happen with Big Vic when fit, we don't know. SS may see him as perfectly capable of fitting into his system, or he may tell him to look elsewhere.

He's on the books though, and taking a wage, which won't help recruitment.

I agree.

Sometimes criticised for only scoring in the 6 yard box- well buggerfucktwat, I'll take that, so long as he does it on a regular basis.

Vic will never play for us again.

A strong statement there.

I'm not sure as to when he will be fit, but when he is, then giving him a run in the pizza cup can't do any harm.

I think by the time he returns that competition will be in its latter stages

Tend to agree. Loaned out in Jan then off in the summer

I think that's most likely, to get himself up to any sort of level he's going to need a run of games, not just 10-15 mins here and there. A loan, into L2, for 20 games or so, will help make the lad's mind up about the robustness of his own body after a long absence and put himself in the shop window for a Summer move.

That'd be a cracking signing.

Can't see it though.

Given the type of striker we want - tall, strong, hold-up player, who’s good in the air - I think one of our centre backs would do a better 9 job than Dan!

To be fair he did score twice, so not quite.  As many goals as Santos, Jones, JDC, Johnston, CMG, Forrester, Schon, Williams put together! (and he only played 11 compared to 150+ for the others).

He's very calm in possession but in his first few games I thought he took calm to another level, he seemed to be half asleep.  If Schon or Tomo could be accused of being too fired up, he's the opposite.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up, I can see why he's rated because he's got a good left peg but his defending is very suspect, that pen he conceded at Bristol was poor and set the tone for the defeat.

Thought he was retiring with his injuries.

He plans on continuing and is in talks with some clubs currently. Be surprised if one of them is us or Bordeaux as they're playing at a very low level now.

Totally disagree, the new set up will suit Vic perfectly and I’d expect Schu to give him every opportunity to prove it.

I thought that too, IF he is healthy then having him here would be a massive plus.

It would probably suit him but he months of being remotely fit and won’t be to the standard needed. It’s sad but reality
