We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

He was not a massive success but he did get a few more goals. One soon after promotion at home to Blackburn sticks in the mind. We beat them 2-1 in the pissing rain at Burnden. They were champions, we were newly promoted. Sent the dingles back home sulking.

Stubbs scored the winner and effectively handed a transfer request in on thr MOTD interview saying he hoped it shut some of the fans up

You were probably thinking of a Dutch Rudder, weren't you?

He certainly dropped a bollock after that comment.

Remember being well pissed off at the time but time has been a great healer on this.

I still hate the prick.

Think you may have missed the subtlety of @gonzo’s post.

Haha no. Just an observation as I look back at Stubbs with us more fonder than I once did. Always thought it was decent he played our charity games and stuff despite getting a little bit of stick

We go with what we've got, coming along soon. Celtic not playing ball.

@tomski has gone soft recently…..even heard him say Chris Eagles did a job for us

Stubbs was a good un for us. He made a right berk of himself with that MOTD interview. I suspect the middle aged Alan Stubbs of the present day would look back on the incident and agree.

Au contraire.

I took the healing comment to a continuation of Gonzo's bollocks!

If it wasn't, it was good nonetheless.

Aye

Big Part of the team that got to the PL

We were never staying up and always going to struggle, and bigger clubs were sniffing so don't blame him for wanting to leave

Just don't say so on MOTD

No animosity here, every player from 92-95 are remembered fondly

Yes, hard to argue with that Victor but for me Ivan Klasnic runs him close.

Had a better goals to games ratio than Shearer at blackburn

Are we talking about number 9s?

Anelka the best striker I've seen play for us. Only started watching BWFC around 2003/4 mind you. Wish I was older back then so I could have appreciated those times more rather than taking them for granted like I did.

Walker was amazing. I’m not sure if He’s underrated or not as everyone I know holds him right up there

Walker was one of those rare breed of strikers who only surprised you by failing to score.

Met the man as well and he lived up to everything

Me too .

Only thing he ever did that I didnt like was celebrating in front of the empty away end . We knew what point he was making but it wasnt our fault the away end was empty .

Not many players I still hate but Malkin , Evans , & Lyttle will always be on my shit list.

Kenny started up front for Celtic in the League Cup, last night. I'd be very surprised if he's coming to us, now.
