Richard Sneekes, Fabian De-Freitas (or did he count as Surinamese?), Riga (played for Holland at all the different youth levels but born in Ghana). I am struggling a bit now. Any others? .. Oh, Yanic Wildschut! De Freitas was born in Suriname as remember having to look up where it was May have grown up in Holland though

Loads of Surinamese in Holland. He broke our transfer record when we signed him for £400,000. It had stood for 15 years since we signed Len Cantello from WBA for £350,000 in 1979, which turned out not to the finest moment for Ian Greaves.

One soon after promotion at home to Blackburn sticks in the mind. We beat them 2-1 in the pissing rain at Burnden. They were champions, we were newly promoted. Sent the dingles back home sulking.
August 14, 20251 yr It looks like the Charlton smokescreen has been removed now. Time to announce Kenny Jonny…….

Stubbs scored the winner and in his post match interview when asked about leaving said "watch this space" because he was certain he was off to Blackburn
August 14, 20251 yr I'm also Facebook friends with DeFraitas even though we've never met I'm sure I was connected with him in LinkedIn in too and he was an architect these days but can't find him

That was their last visit to Burnden, and we beat them on their first visit to the Reebok too (Holdsworth 1-0) those were strange times because them being champions/challenging for Europe etc diluted our rivalry a bit, playing us to them was a small game as they had bigger fish to fry. Beating them was very satisfying to remind them we were still around.

Was that when Stubbs gave a MotD interview where he basically said he wasn't planning on staying ?

Seem to remember he played a game against Swindon(?) earlier in the season when I thought he looked unplayable, ripped them apart. Didn't score many in the season but that Wembley performance more than pays back the outlay.
