I'm not sure "they will do" cuts our needs.

But maybe our needs have changed. I don't know. We've signed another winger today. I don't think many of us would have said that was our need before today. Or at least I don't recall many people, if any saying "We definitely need another winger".

They might be happy with what they've seen and got.

I am constantly telling myself that he'll come good ... but goodness it's a challenge.

I'd love us to sign a centre half

Crossed my mind previously.

I don't think they will rush to sign a striker- it will have to be someone they have confidence in to hit the ground running.

I fucking hope not

With Burstow, Dalby and Lawrence/Big Dave, then Vic coming back in the next couple months. Then the goal scoring threat our wingers have offered, wonder if they think they can do until at least Jan.

No way . Victor out till December, two B team players not proven at this level , Dalby no pre season and might need a while to get up to speed that leaves burstow we’re still light when your having to stick mactee up top we need one in soon

Inwood

cmg

mcatee

assume we are strength in depth with these

While Cissoko might turn out to be an asset, and good luck to him, SS is in danger of accumulating more wingers than Evatt had no10s, while the defence fails to convince. It was an easier afternoon than could have been expected v Plymouth but either side of that we've shipped 5 and tonight was shambolic, really poor defending throughout the 90 minutes

CMG is not a winger , he's a no. 10  and Id keep faith with him . A Right back , A CF & a CH should be on the shopping list .

Rome wasnt built in a day and after a busy transfer window the team needs to get used to each other. Having said that promotion must be the aim as at least 2 of the loans wont be near the club if we dont go up .  Its the Trafford/Bradley conundrum all over again .

He’s not good enough. It’s quite simple.

I disagree . Before the injury and in that position he was looking pretty good .

When?

He’s had one decent game, against Northampton away.

Otherwise he’s been gash, done nowt to justify his selection.

Played in the wrong position , Like Pedersen at left back .

You didn’t go to the game against Birmingham then?

I go to every game, pal.

He’s not good enough and needs to go.

If anyone thinks he was "gash" tonight they weren't watching properly, he showed real industry and enthusiasm with decent invention at times, the player I was watching was far from rubbish.

Its just that the 2 wingers that came on 2nd half are a bit better, that's not his fault, but he's a decent footballer and was one of our better players tonight, certainly miles better than Warren on the night (he will improve).

He wasn't awful tonight but he also didn't pull any trees up, wasn't so easy after the sending off (as it wasn't for Warren either on his debut), but that bloke who wore his shirt v Brum still hasn't reappeared (and hadn't shown up much before then).

Industry and enthusiasm doesn’t get you out of this league.

That’s why SS is overseeing massive change.

Absolute joke that some folk think CMG is a game changer.

We may well sign one yet.

I still think the lad from Celtic will come on loan

Maybe not if he saw that performance.

Would Lawrence and McAtee have done better if they’d had Gale and ACD on the flanks? Maybe.

Would Erhahon been more accomplished with Simons alongside him? Quite possibly.

Would the likes of Toal, GJ and Taylor have allowed those goals? First one that came from JDCs cock up was brilliant, but the others I doubt we’d have conceded.

If the idea of sending out a full team of fringe players is to see who hacks it, the results are clouded by the players alongside them.

Performances were awful, but there’s always the question of who they were playing with and several runs stopped happening because of what seemed like losing confidences in the ball arriving. Needs sorting in training and some (more) decisions made.

No transfer decisions (in) are being made off the back of 1st round league cup game in which we had 10 men for an hour.

There might be a few out that it confirmed for SS, but I’d imagine they were already his plans before last night, just that nobody convinced him otherwise.

I don’t see the desire for centre backs. We’ve got 5 (incl. Taylor seeing as Conway is proving more than capable at left back), we don’t need anymore.

Right back and centre forward for me, with a few out permanently and on loan.

I'm not sure it's a question of numbers where people are concerned in terms of central defence (although I do worry about the "double counting" people do with Richard Taylor. He can play at left back but if we get injuries he can't do both that and centre back at the same time!!) I think it's more people have concerns about overall quality. Is that central defensive unit collectively good enough to be commanding and grind out the consistent clean sheets we need? You need better than just decent League One standard to be at the top.

Pretty much all of them have a chequered history on the injury front as well.

Fair enough. Which injury was he decent before ? I want all our players to do well but at some point we have to admit they are another poor signing and we need to move on. I can’t understand why CMG is seen as better than schon, nlundulu, lolos etc.

I still see 2 or 3 outs and ins in the next couple weeks,  and as someone said nothing at all will be based on last night but a couple did not help themselves at all.

Publicly, Schumacher trotted out the “lots of positives” media line.

Privately, his head may be spinning.
