ianofcleveleys Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Good signing. Evident, as @Eddie says, JDC has those limitations as a RB, Christie's height and strength should be an asset and give us the sort of increased physicality across the back line we need. Quote
Tombwfc Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 A rare thing at this level to sign a player I've watched play football before. Always thought he was solid and he ticks the boxes in terms of experience. Often our 'experienced' heads have turned out to be lads who are totally finished (Arfield, Jerome) so hopefully he's got a bit more in the tank. He's played about 17 games worth of minutes in the last two seasons combined so he might be a slow starter. Quote

Yeah, good signing for me there - RB was looking weak. Would be interesting to know if we'd have signed him if Tutu had stayed fit. Quote

That said, if we had approached him earlier, when Tutu was fit, then perhaps the player himself was looking around to see what was available. Reading him comments, this seems likely, and we've had to wait a bit. In the end, it seems we were a good fit for each other. Quote

Tombwfc Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Would Kenny have been a 'proper striker'? I'd take Forss's record over his anyday. Last time he played at this level he was scoring at a rate of 27 goals a season. Quote
Dr. Feelgood Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 I like Tutu. He adapted reasonably well to the old 'wing-back' role yet he's primarily a winger. But injury seems a near constant & that's a real pity. With Schön gone too & a bunch of others, Markham's work 12 months ago looks pretty tatty in hindsight. Quote

Shame it went into K*n's back pocket. More than happy with Forss. On the face of it, looks like a very good move. Quote

We tried to sign Christie 12 years ago when he was a 21 year old. 😀 Quote

Yeah I'm pleased with this. We need to be patient though, and not break him. Presume he's been training with someone, but probably needs a bit of time. 45 mins unscathed tomorrow night and a couple of B-Team fixtures Quote
Zog1 Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 It's also worth noting that under Evatt the strikers tended to get lots of goals because all the opportunities were pushed onto them. Like Phil Parkinson had Beevers and Wheater put in about 15 together. In a different formation/ system/ team was Dion ever a 20 goal a season striker, probably not. Quote
Farnywhite Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Dion is finished the injury took away that yard he never looked the same . just read on that Bolton news feed comment “if we get rid of Mctee or Morley we have given up on promotion “ and iles as posted it on there . Fuck me mctee we have more chance without him of going up than with him fucking liability Quote
boltonboris Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Selling Morley would indeed be a strange move. Money or not, we're not going to be able to sign a sufficient replacement in time. Unless it's an offer we can't afford to turn down, which it won't be at this stage of the window Quote
deeane Koontz Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 Keep Morley and force someone to buy Randall. Quote
Lostock Whites Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 (edited) Overall I'm very happy with the window, 14 additions and a well needed revamp of the squad. As Schuey pointed out at the end of last season, the squad was completely unbalanced and in a mess. We've got genuine pace and power now, as well as some steel in the middle of the park. You could make the case that nearly every signing could be playing at a higher level than League 1 and it's been well noted that we have beaten many higher division teams to some of the signings. The 2 lads we have signed today have both played mostly in the Premier League and Championship. Got the tools now I'm sure, just need it to click. Edited September 1, 2025 by Lostock Whites Quote
Big E Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 If we are now done with incomings is this now SS squad ? Is he now responsible ? Quote

Not until the last skin cell of one of Evatt's signings have vacated the training ground. Even if SS signs the final one to a 10 year extension Quote
Wanderlust Posted September 1, 2025 Posted September 1, 2025 1 minute ago, Big E said: If we are now done with incomings is this now SS squad ? Is he now responsible ? Not necessarily. He needs a month for them to get to know each other, another to fiddle with the system to accommodate them, the rest of the season to learn how to play it, and all of next year to correct any bugs in the system and replace anyone who ever had their careers ruined by Ian Evatt.. Or he could just get on with what he's paid for and getting us promoted starting with a win on Saturday. Quote
