Theres a bloke saying we should be trying for Callum Wilson, and that's enough twitter for me today.

Was just about to say that, have come off there, stupidity off the scale. Wailing about the new lad because he's not instantly going to bump our CBs into the stiffs and demanding we get Wilson 🙄

My quarterly reminder to come off Twitter.

Anything worth knowing is posted / discussed on here and @burnden has the team news on here about 12 seconds after it’s released. You really don’t miss anything other than mindless shite that winds you up.

Should just be signing whoever we want, paying whatever we want. Sack the board.

To reunite him with Michail Antonio?

Just seen on Facetube that a Trotter walking on the prom in Llandudno wearing a Bolton top was stopped by Jesse Lingard who informed him that he’s signing for us this week 🤷‍♂️

He’s 33 and recently ended a 2yr stint in South Korea, so is a free agent..(Lingard not the Trotter)

Not sure what to make of that as there are 3 La Liga clubs interested in him.

Willson and Lingard should be some attack.

Bet they can't wait to play at Stevenage on a Tuesday night.

That is about 24 hours after RW teases it out

We seem to have a policy of signing cheap young prospects - gambles  - and that’s no bad thing if you look at how our captain has turned out. To me it’s a better strategy than spunking away fortunes on “proven” players like Randell etc.

We’re a third tier club and we need to focus on developing our squad and if we can find a gem who can finish we’ll be fine.

But in the interim we need something to get us to the next level.

We have a B team for that......Most useless thing at the club......Not sure if we have either sold anyone on at a profit or had any of them break into the first team since its inception.

Even the back end of last season SS played 17 year old Kids from the youth team rather than B team

If the well is running dry as some have mentioned that should be the first thing drained

Of course we need to bring in raw talent to hopefully improve and sell on but most teams who do that go nowhere. Look at Posh and Crewe, developed lots of quality players sold on for big money yet look where they are. In fact the only club I can think of that’s been successful that way is Brentford. Right now though we’re crying out for a couple of diehard, experienced, proven players and with respect I’d question your “proven” description of Randall. I think we were sold a pup there personally. I still believe the majority of the squad is plenty good enough to win this league but we’re missing some quality and a coach who can see what’s not working and actually know how to change it.

Really can't see the point of a B team, there doesn't seem to be any progression.

Sam Nombe the latest rumour

That’s a possibility don’t think he’s played since he came on against us but he was returning from an injury.

I think we should be looking at Championship players, that are out of favour, rather than players like Nombe whose never proved himself above div 1 level.

A striker that's proved himself at L1 level would be an upgrade, its what we had prior to this season

We have that his name is Forss.

Aye we currently have 3 strikers/forwards unproven at any level :D

Its a bit of a mystery with Forss.  Agreed he appeared to be "proven" at championship level in 2022-23 and 2023-24 (17 goals in 59 games incl 3 pens).  Scored in March 2024 then no goal till Feb 2025, and another 2 this season for us.  So 3 goals in 2 years, how long does his "proven" tag remain?  Similar can be said for Charles and Randall, strikers or creative midfielders can only rely on their past stats for so long.

Anyway Forss can obviously take a pen, a pity that skillset is no longer a requirement here!

He’s been back for a few weeks now just bedding himself back in as a second half sub but should be nearly 100% now. Exactly the kind of player we need in my opinion, big, strong and quick and doesn’t shirk a challenge. If we can beat off the reported Championship clubs after him it would be a major plus.
