I think our problems stem purely from our tactics and the way we play. We just don't create enough chances for the CF. I saw a bit of Newcastle last night, in the last 20 mins and the amount of times they get the ball forward quickly and to the wide men on the outside ball pulled back across. Piece of piss really. Both our wide men are lightning fast so i don't see the issue. Switch them both onto their natural sides and problem solved. 100%. We don't cross the bloody ball. Its turning into Evatt-ball again, and its boring to watch. PS gutted about Forrester, id have him team all day long before Forino Edited January 8Jan 8 by Ratwhite

We were never able to offer him that opportunity. I liked him a lot, when he got going. Problem being he couldn’t stay fit for more than 10 games and he was also a bit on the lightweight side for a CB in this league. He can work on the 2nd bit but if he can’t sort his fitness out then he’ll never prove how good he can actually be. He might go on to do well but us getting rid is unfortunately the sensible move at this point in time.

January 8Jan 8 Popular Post Forrester was very capable but injury prone as hell and a bit diminutive for a central defender. Losing Evatt signings allows SS to move us on as a club in terms of mentality as well as the shape and profile of the squad. It looks like Victor may be out of the door shortly. We still need to toughen up. The soft underbelly is not as evident as under Evatt with appalling derby capitulations and an inability to beat teams at the top end. However we still lack players who have gone course and distance for League 1 promotion. Experienced, street-wise professionals who have a spot on mentality week in week out. Blokes who can arm-wrestle a game drifting at 0-0 in our direction. I hope the January window can be a further transition to that status. We need a few out before we get a few in as everybody knows. As a side note the modern trend of "undisclosed" fees is frustrating. I would like to know how much we got for Forrester.

The whole point of inverted wingers is that they are supposed to be able to go either way, equally capable of cutting in on their stronger side or going on the outside. The alternative - play them on their 'natural' sides - is (theoretically) easier to defend against. Spot on. Imagine duberry on the left, cutting in on his right. The defender is just going to show you the outside and make you go down the line. It might be on his left foot but he's not got the body strength to be able to take a defender on the outside 1 on 1 continuously. Also when he cuts inside it's on his weaker foot, which won't be productive. These people that think the wingers should be on their natural footed side are living in 1995. The side the wingers are on is not the issue. The issue is when we are up against a low block, all they can do is come inside when they are getting doubled. We've no effective number 10 to create anything in the middle so ends up back with Sheehan, or whoever, to start again.

No stats to back it up like strikers. If Toal, Johnston, Forino, JDC, Christie all left as well, there would be another load of varying views on whether they'd been any good and whether it was good riddance or we'll struggle to replace them. L1 standard player moves from one L1 team to another L1 team, his place in the squad will be taken by another L1 CB.
January 8Jan 8 More of the clear out please. Schuey was never going to get it done in 1 window. Forrester, Cogley, Victor and personally tired of the constant Morley links, I would get him sold too whilst he's still worth a bit. I think we thought we were getting a completely different player after his loan spell with Wycombe but he's just been the same for a while now. He hardly brings anything to the team especially compared to the other midfielders and goes missing very easily. Would sell Randall too but thats not happening. These players signed by Evatt have been here for too long now and we need better if we want to get promoted. Glad to see that Schuey isn't afraid of making the changes needed. January 8Jan 8 I have no problem with Forrester, and no problem with him leaving. Not been making the squad when fit , so makes sense for us and him to shake hands and walk away. Hopefully frees up a place in the squad for a new signing. 37 appearances in 2.5 seasons so should be replaceable.
