Although that stinks of an agent trying to convince us to offer a better deal to me

I know Sluffy posted above, but was just seeing if YouTube video embedded.. looks like it has.

I think he’s Tutu’s replacement. First impressions (very unqualified from two videos) are that he looks defensively sound and can put a foot in. Primary position for us RB/RWB, but does seem versatile too.

Trying to compare him with previous highlights of potential defenders of the past, I think I'd put George Taft just ahead of him, as he was better in the air and had a better passing range.

Joking aside, any defender in L2 or National League could put a video together of blocking and slide tackling and the odd foray to cross a ball.

I've yet to see one that shows shortcomings, imagine the difference between Cissoko's "buy me" video and one of his actual performances pre-Exeter away 😁

Tutu's video will look absolutely amazing in comparison, Charlton fans will think they're getting the new Kafu.

This period every season I get rather over excited about players I've never heard of signing or not signing for us, clubs foot-dragging or late arrivals trying to gazump us.

I can get quite animated that it's taking too long or fearful that we'll lose out on the next Messi.

I've decided to chill, look occasionally & believe it when I see Picture - Shirt/Scarf - Grin.

Yes, agent doing classic agent stuff, getting an auction going. Up to the lad in the end. No doubt Fergal has 2 or 3 targets for each position he's looking to fill

No, the transfer fee could be paid in full up front but the books will still amortise the fee over the life of the players contact.

Alternatively if the transfer fee is paid in instalments over a period of time, the amount remaining will be shown as a creditor in the accounts and paid from revenue.

It doesn't necessarily mean that the owners will provide the next yearly transfer budget minus the £1m still owing on the outstanding transfer fee, it is more likely they would work to how much more capital they want to put into the club as equity to afford to sign the players they want in that particular window but the end result would be much the same in that the £1m instalment due is paid by the club from the accounts which up to now has traded at a loss and funded from the previous equity the owners have put into the club - ie the owners pick up the tab from what they had previously put in (and not what they might have put in now, less £1m).

Amortisation is an accountancy rule and I would doubt very much indeed that any auditor would sign off any accounts not adhering to them.

Although not an accountant, I am aware that a fee paid fully upfront can be amortised over an agreed period. A firm may pay for a specialist machine in full, but amortise that cost over the expected lifespan of the asset.

However, these amortised costs will need to be declared in future years, and impact on those accounts.

Yes, that's exactly what I've tried to explain to you.

The amortised costs are shown over the length of the players contract (or expected lifetime of the machine) irrespective of the full amount being paid on arrival.

If the player has signed on a 4 year contract, each of the following four years would show the amortised value of the player deceasing on the company's accounts - similarly if the machines expected lifetime was 20 years, the value of it would decrease by amortisation over the company's accounts over the next twenty years.

I read Cissoko’s purchase option clause that was attached to the loan is reported to be around a million. As entertaining as he is, I hope we’re only considering that as a last resort.

I'd still like to sign him here. He has something different & he certainly learnt last year.

But maybe ⅓ of that £1m. It's not our (or his) fault Tolouse spend too much on him.

I would also get ACD in. On loan if needs be but as ours if we possibly can. Draw a ring around his as a business venture. It'll see profit.

Cissoko would be a massive no from me

Think the play off games have glossed over the teams performance for the season for a lot of people. We just scraped into the playoffs ultimately in a very poor league 1. There needs to be MASSIVE changes in the playing staff and just resigning people from last year wont be good enough. I think resigning Kenny and ACD could turn out to be a disaster, i remember how good Filipe Morais looked in League 1.

Wow.

If we are looking at a scale from: Disaster - Not for me - Debatable - Good signings - Let’s make it happen if it’s affordable - This would be absolutely fantastic

For these two, out of all the players we’ve had on loan and let go, to put them at the level of disaster re-signings seems bonkers to me.

You could argue all other levels on the scale … but disaster 🤷‍♂️

IMO I’d love to have those two back. Two of last years temporary signings who I feel could make the championship step-up.

I like Johnny Kenny and I think he could adapt to the Championship, he's a great age with lots of potential, my only concern is that he does seem a little injury prone imo.

I said disaster because they’d be a lot of money, and even if they were able to hack it in the Championship, they probably wouldn't be stars they were for us in League 1. If we're going to cut it in the Championship we need everyone to be at star league 1/ early Championship level, with a few above that. This is why having such a thin squad right now goes in our favour.

Perfect fit for us, with our injury history

Tricky one, play for a managerless club, with questionable owners with home fans numbering around 12,000 at best, or play for a progressive club on the up with growing fan base, solid ,stable owners and a young successful, respected manager.

How can Blackburn be in for Stephenson? They have no manager and as far as I am aware have not been paying that kind of dosh for players for a while. Sounds like agents or Liverpool playing games as negotiations continue.

Just scraped through with how many games to spare? I feel things may have been different had those points been vital. Thing is, nobody will ever know.

Definitely a bit of agent getting busy in it, though Blackburn might not be quite as hamstrung this year, I've heard from my mate who's an ST there that Venkys may be able to be a bit freer with the cash due to settling a long running issue with the Indian Government regarding funds being transferred out of the country.

Yeah, I was worried about us slipping from third place but not about us slipping out of the play-offs

Probably not, though he looked OK last preseason, until breaking his wrist.

A full year in proper league football behind him now, so who knows.

I doubt many of us saw Conway being used so much this year, and our manager seemed keen to get Warren in.

Guess we'll see in good time.

Those new rules won't permit big spending, even if they have plenty available.
