We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Strong link with Josh Sheehan, midfielder from Newport.

Made PFA team of the year & Welsh international.

And they offered him new terms, so he's not a cast off. 😁

some savvy person on here said 'i'd take Sheehan off Newport ' type of player we should be going for i reckon best of league 2 and some experienced league 1 .

Former Liverpool Reserve catain, moved to Feyenord & joined on loan for Wigan's great escape last January. Played 22 times.

A left sided centre-half but able to play across the back. Despite never having heard of him that's a decent pedigree for a 'one for the future'.

Now get John signed.

Wigan fans having a meltdown on Twitter - happy days

Right sort of age + plenty of experience for his age.+ right pedigree + competition for Baptiste

Jobsaguddun

Work and live in Wigan they are furious the couple of latics fans I work they had hoped to sign they rate him highly doesnt help me laughing at them and informing them he wanted to play for a big club.

What a difference a year makes

12 months ago abit of panic signings due to hardly any players

And now thought out hand picked signings

Just having a read around, someone reckoning John is/has signed, Sheehan is a definite, and a bit of a long shot- Greg Kiltie has left Kilmarnock.

Gazumping that shower of shit is always welcome. That apart he's a good age and has experience at the relevant level. We needed another central defender and I'm pleased he's gone out and got one. Sheehan would be a good deal too. We're beginning now to see the shape of our transfer policy and I like the area of the market we're exploring. Good ages, hungry players looking to improve.

Which, to be fair, is effectively what the young man himself said in his signing interview ...

“Being part of a massive club who are on the rise was something I was desperate to be involved with.

”One of the reasons why I came here was to help the club get back to where it belongs".

With which, of course, he's effectively saying "not like the tosspots I was with since January".

Sheehan is a quality signing for where we are. It's been a long time since we've signed players that would have been on the radar of our competitors & even possibly a league above.

Can stretch to Greenidge - Reiss G

"Initial thoughts are that we've missed a massive opportunity there, would have loved to have seen him sign for us, though I did think Weds/Sunderland or a Championship club would get him. Gutted them lot have got him, but guess we need to reserve judgement till we see who signs for us as replacement"

From the Wigan site.

General concesus over there seems to be that obviously he would have wanted to stay with Wigan if he'd had the chance and that the new owners must have someone massive lined up ready to come in.

They still haven't figured things out have they? 😁😁😁
