Lee to come back after covid quicker than first thought- maybe just the one defensive midfielder needed?

Isn't Lee just a central midfielder, I don't see him as defensive at all.  Not a tackler, not deep lieing, and looks to create and occasionally score (unlike MJ, Tutte etc).

So according to some wench on being sports,    Chesterfield are looking to sell tshimongo for 925,000 this month !     So we can scratch that one.

He's the best all round midfielder we've got- does it all.

Aye, no way he'd be in the 300k bracket

"Defensive midfielder would not be my description of Morley. He only played deep because of his passing range. His defensive awareness has never been a strength." So he sounds similar to Sheehan. His possession stats set him apart, also looks like he has a hell of a delivery on him too which we are missing dearly. Morley or Hartigan would be a good investment for the club as they've racked up 100 EFL games each so have very good experience despite only being 21. If one of them come off, it's hard to see why we would loan another 20 year old midfielder with 0 EFL experience in Campbell where we would be developing Aberdeen's product which is a mid table SPL team? You'd hope we're looking to add a bit of experience & leadership to the XI to help guide the younger ones which we are seriously lacking at this point in time

Can't see them getting almost a million for him.

He's 24, so maybe late developer, and is only now making a show of himself.

Could see a smaller figure with a sizeable sell on clause, but its a lot for a non league player.

That’s what Leicester paid for Vardy

No but i don't think they are looking to sell him, they only bought him in the summer and he's a one in one striker so far

And apparently they paid Boreham Wood an "amazing" fee

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/sport/football/boreham-wood-chairman-claims-chesterfield-paid-amazing-fee-for-star-striker-kabongo-tshimanga-3341502%3famp

The fee we had set was a top League One or Championship club but that also shows the ambition of the Chesterfield manager and the faith Chesterfield have in his judgement

He's probably already on more than most of our squad

Wigan will probably pay it if they find out we are interested.

Indeed, but they weren't bottom end of league one.

If another championship club wants to shell that out then fair enough- he would need to be capable of playing at that level.

That’s what I mean think £1m for us is too much for a non league

Morley played against Plymouth in the FA cup it was televised.

Didn’t look like a defensive midfielder to me , he scored a pearler & was unlucky with another effort , neat & tidy .

Didnt stand out massively but him & Beesley were Rochdale’s best players on the day.

If we've put a bid in, what do folk see happening when Sheehan gets fit?

Wasn’t the aim at the start of the season to have two players fighting for each position.
What a luxury that would be

We probably started the season with 2 for every position: Gilks/Dixon; Jones/Brockbank; John/Gordon; at least 4 CBs; loads of MF's (Lee, Williams, Sheehan, Tutte, Thomasson, Sarcevic, Isgrove, Dapo); Kachunga, Delf, Baka, Doyle for up front.  No problem with quantity, its quality we're lacking, mainly someone that can shoot, someone that can put in a decent corner or free kick, someone that can hold the ball up and someone that can win a header in the opposition box.  (accepting its not just about individuals, we'd also want to address the pedestrian/predictable build up play that has made us everyone's favourite opposition away from home).
