Transfer Gossip

I don’t want to sound like I’m slagging the guy but you look at the high earners all on 3.5k or more, John, kachunga, sadlier , JDB & baka and he’s either not using, injury prone or not getting a tune

so all of a sudden the limited budget is imo wasted or not utilised

He’s brought some good additions at the same time so it’s not all bad but for me we have spunked some wages

Even our top earners are bargain signings, the success rate with these type of players will be lower than players on over 10K saying that most have made some contribution to the cause, as we progress and pay higher wages the previously purchased players will be moved on and upgrades replacing them and that is the key here, Evatt has upgraded our squad and moved on the chaff at every transfer window since he arrived... and still some clowns think Evatt needs replacing. (That is not aimed at you)

FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

  • Sure it's that Mandela effect in full flow here that we all seem to be OK with this. It's a fucking travesty and complete shitshow. He's our most prolific striker by a country mile, has been

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Agree fully with that MK, With so little resources Evatt’s done a remarkable job so far and I’m confident he’ll pull another couple of rabbits out of the hat next month and take us up another notch. It’s a big ask but if he could just find us a decent goal scorer it would transform our fortunes and might even spike our other “strikers” into life as would 3 points at Lincoln tonight.

I’d have thought we have a comparatively high payroll for this league? Top 6 or so? I haven’t looked it up, though.

Im always amazed when folk take figures they read on some random site as being gospel

Nobody outside the club really knows what we are paying for individual players

But I think you can safely say we ain’t massive payers.

Compared to?

Im sure he said teams have to lodge the figures with the efl

Granted, prob a season behind

A good left wing-back is a must. Ideally one with pace.

It's a real problem that we play a formation which is heavily dependent on wing-backs to get forward and create the attacking impetus and we only have one.

Bradley is good but he's not so good he can do it on his own.

City wont want him anywhere near that shite.

We need a prolific dead-eyed striker. Trouble is the same goes for about 80 per cent of football clubs in the world. Given our MO in the transfer market our likeliest way of finding one is from lower down the pyramid/Irish football.

After that I think we just need to evolve the squad. Evatt will already have an idea who is going to leave in this window or be given a free in the Summer. That'll dictate his thought on recruitment in January.

One thing I would say is that given our intended destination is the Championship we probably need to pick up a few players with good experience at that level. The logic of the Charles/Toal/Morley/Iredale type "investment" signings shouldn't be questioned - but it shouldn't be a one-dimensional transfer strategy.

As well as a striker we need some enforcer types sprinkled across the team… we’re bullied to often and I don’t like it.

I think our most likely way of finding one is a youngster from a Premier League club on loan.

We've signed 21yr old from NZ Wellington Phoenix Ben Waine, which is obviously a gamble.

Hopefully it isn't a replacement for Hardie rumoured to want back North who you could do worse than making a bid for, or Whittaker who Ipswich are rumoured to be lining up 1M bid to parent club Swansea

Do we, I think it is more a Daryl Murphy or Andy Walker type tbh, been there, done it and on the wind down. We would be nearer the top two if Murphy had been playing instead of Charles for sure.

However Evatt wouldn't have played him as no doubt he wouldn't press enough??

We simply need someone to get us out of this division then worry about the championship then. Look at Sunderland...

Promising kid and I reckon he'll do well for Argyle once he's used to this league.

As for us, we're left guessing as all the targets are apparently already identified - and there's no chance in hell we'll be bidding £1million for anyone - have you been reading all that nonsense about how rich we supposedly are? We're in the £150k to £300k at a push category.

Someone like Everton's Tom Cannon would be worth a shot.
