May 23, 20179 yr Off to drink pints of wine in Marbella till next Feb when someone needs keeping up. THIS
May 23, 20179 yr I'd say he's probably more worth it £/pt than some bang average 26 year old midfielder. He's got goals in him. He scored 18 in 29 when he was at Bournemouth (4th tier) on loan from WHU as an 18 year-old.
May 23, 20179 yr His statment reads to me as though hes effectively retired. Or at least taking a long break
May 23, 20179 yr Saying he is not interested in managing anyone. Retiring He's proved to himself that he's still got 'it', and CP has heled to put the England fiasco behind him. Come January he can decide whether to take up any of the several offers he might get.
May 23, 20179 yr Surely, his thirst for cash isn't sated? Unless a "big" job is available I reckon it is. I was surprised he took it- he made it clear in his book his family would like him to calm it down.
May 23, 20179 yr You're not wrong mate. Just heard about Bournemouth offering 120k a week for 3 years to the 35 year old Jermain Defoe. Absolute feckin madness What's that, £7m a year? I bet they turn over £130m a year in the Premier league They can only have 25 in the first team squad as well Realistically they could have 11 lads on £130k a week The other 14 on £30k a week and the wage bill would only be £100m, still have plenty left for everything else!
May 23, 20179 yr Sure he said in his book he was happily retired to Spain with his long suffering wife... By the end of it he was in the Sunderland dugout!
May 23, 20179 yr Carefully says he doesn't want another role as "manager". Just waiting for him to roll up in some role at the Macron.
May 23, 20179 yr Carefully says he doesn't want another role as "manager". Just waiting for him to roll up in some role at the Macron. Next public appearance on 12 June?
May 24, 20179 yr Makes sense. What more could he do at Palace or any club likely to give him a job? He probably feels a major trophy would complete his career but he could have a long wait at struggling premiership clubs for one of those. He was never getting a top job and probably knows he blew his chance of glory with the England stuff. Not much point doing the same job over and over again with different clubs. He can make a killing in personal appearances and commentaries, probably mostly abroad in Dubai etc...
May 24, 20179 yr would happily pot parky to have Sam back Nah, his heart wouldn't be in it. He's been here and done that. He wasn't even bothered by a relatively rich premiership club. He's not putting himself through the ringer here again.
May 24, 20179 yr Palace in for Parky Would love Parky to say I am staying at Bolton as were bigger club with better history and facilities, that would send the Palace fans into meltdown especially after Freedman left them for us. And its true. Edited May 24, 20179 yr by Mounts Kipper
May 24, 20179 yr Remember the panic at Lennon potentially going to Leicester? Who did they end up getting in and did he do a good job?
May 24, 20179 yr Who did they end up getting in and did he do a good job? Some Italian fella he kept em up to be fair.
May 25, 20179 yr According to the papers, he lost a close friend in the bombing and announced he was quitting hours later.
