Auterity wasn't right first time round, its been a proven failure which has lead to a lot of the position we are in now. It won't work now.

I know I bring some personal feelings towards why Hunt isn't the man to save this country or his own party even with the BSkyB scandal aside, but then I'm sure many Drs and Nurses do as well.

I thought he was okay in health, obviously funding was an issue but that's primarily at the door of Osborne. 

Its my ex wife's and he was just utterly useless and also had no interest in the brief at all apart from trying to claim all the glory for the Olympics which had fuck all to do with him. And the scandal around BSkyB pissed eveyone off. 

You also had a raft of very decent people in post before him who in different ways did a very good job - Chris Smith (who really was excellent) Tessa Jowell, James Purnell, Andy Burnham, Ben Bradshaw

He was one of the key movers in austerity - and he's aiming to go down this path again - he's even using the same language all over today's annoucements. It's like the ghost of the Cameron government has been reanimated to give the party some cover.

I would just hope forming basic sentences is a baseline for our elected representatives.

Although, given the last 12 months, you're right - it's not a given.

Fair enough, but all the names you mentioned as better were Labour.  Hunt having influence is one of the less worse options with the current shade of government.

That's because generally they were better, all party bias aside - one of the main reasons is that Conservatives have in the past use it to attack the BBC or some other made up demon, use it to help their mates (see Hunt) or don't want the post in the first place as they have to do things that generally conservatives don't like - ie spending money on arts, under funded sports that aren't rugby and the like so it's only seen as a stepping stone to elsewhere rather than a brief they really want.

Caution should be taken when interpreting these data as HM Revenue and Customs changed the collection methods for EU trade from January 2022.

It's also largely down to gas exports to EU partners because of the Ukraine crisis.

Embarrassed? Nay lad - way too long in the tooth not to have witnessed similar machinations before. It will all blow over soon - my guess being that Truss will go (it should have been Mordaunt and Sunak in the run off in the first place and everyone knows it) and the blues will claw back enough credibility over the remainder of their term to minimise their inevitable loss to Mr. Beige and his cronies and then return to government to properly right the ship.

Hopefully Mordaunt gets the call.

How do they calculate how many points Labour are ahead? If it’s by asking folk who they’d currently vote for in a GE then it’s a little bit flawed in that the GE isn’t currently upon us. Besides, if asked, I’d probably not even tell them the truth.

I wonder if the current levels of disdain in both camps may mean a surge in popularity for the minor parties.

Without a doubt he will, and no doubt it will be another unsuccessful attempt to become an MP  - he's done what he wanted/needed to do, I don't think there's much of a platform for him these days (unless the Brexit he's got, isn't the Brexit that he wants)

The problem with reform party is they have some valid ideas but in reality they are just Tory boys on steroids, and I can’t take to Tice at all. The only way to go with politics is slightly left or right of centre…. The best lot left or right of centre will get my vote. And at the moment that’s the Labour party.
