What a load of old bollocks you do talk. Brits caused a boom in building in Spain which provided may paying jobs in areas that traditionally could only rely on tourism. 'Locals struggle to but property'.

Well I have relatives who’ve lived in Spain for 30 years who paint a very different picture.

Also, be assured that they fucking hate the Brits. They’ll take your money all day long but think we’re cunts. Giddies.

Good call on Estrella Galicia though @bolty58 - Theres hope for you yet old timer.

Asylum seekers who enter the UK from Europe face being turned away after Brexit under a shake-up planned by Home Secretary Priti Patel. The proposed changes would mean asylum claims by migrants who come through the EU and enter the UK illegally would be "inadmissible".

Great news. Let’s hope the government implement this.

But Brexit was not about immigration was it ?
Strange how the same people offended by BLM and trot out All Lives Matter do not apply this to asylum seekers or even worse old folk who will be the unfortunate victims of letting a virus run free.
(second paragraph not linked to Mounts reply to avoid confusion )

Surprised you have mixed up immigration with illegal asylum seekers.... perhaps I shouldn’t be.

That post just proves you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. You may well have relatives in Spain as do I (around a dozen of them) but I'd be interested to know in what area. Most of mine are in Andaluz and I can assure you the Spanish down there in the main are incredibly grateful for the job opportunities and economic boost the British bring.

Fucking hate the Brits my arse.  Lovely people the Spanish in my experience - especially when you make the effort with their language.

We agree on Estrella Galicia ginge.

Is 'thier' language some kind of Andalusian dialect?

Sorry - couldn't resist! :)

Yeah apologies for that. Could you define ‘illegal asylum seekers’ though ?
I should have said Brexit was not about stopping nasty people from other countries. Although the article you link to refers to also changing the immigration rules.

I’m classing it as folk illegally entering the U.K. who could have claimed asylum when they landed on the EU mainland but chose to travel through Europe illegally entering the U.K. with a view to claiming asylum in the U.K.

On the other hand legal immigration is something I’m in favour of, but only if someone with same qualification/skills  from India has the same opportunity as someone from the EU to live, work and contribute.

You’d have them thrown back in the sea, admit it.

How often has an asylum seeker ruined your day ? Apart from your teeth being ground to stumps whilst you fume at a Farage video or the Daily Mail?

Try asking the same question to those poor families of the Arena bombing

Officially lost the plot now.

Remainers don't like being reminded of their weasely, democracy denying past and how each of their shroud waving predictions have failed to materialise. It tends to discredit whatever sour-grapes inspired drivel they are spouting in the present moment. Or in short the remainer plot was lost quite some time ago. Its just that some are still to realise.

So asylum seekers can only get here by flying ?
And if you are being honest do you think increased immigration from India and Pakistan is a consequence of Brexit that people understood ?

Utterly tragic as you well know.

Soham murders?

We could be here all day.

Youre suggesting all asylum seekers are child murderers and I don’t think they are.

Turkey, Pakistan, Uganda and Sudan hosted the highest numbers of refugees at the end of 2018, while 85% of refugees live in the country bordering their own. In the last four months of 2019 Spain, France, Germany and Greece received the highest number of asylum applications in Europe, 74% of all the applications in Europe between them.

The UK is home to 1% of the world’s 29.6 million refugees. Asylum seekers make up a very small percentage of overall migrants to the UK with study and work cited as the main reasons why people want to come to the country, according to research from Oxford’s Migration Observatory.

By the EU's own rules its inevitable that more applications would be made to other European nations.

Good luck to them if they wish to keep letting more in. Quite sure you'll find increasing numbers will be refused entry.

Immigration needs tight controls, I know that.

But the suggestion that tens of thousands of them are landing every day and tanking the economy and destroying our way of life is a massive over reaction.

The EU will be less inclined to help us control the flow next year I would imagine, which is why Patel is flapping a bit.

Stop talking utter shit. You asked Mounts when did an asylum seeker spoil his day, so i merely replied quoting an example.

An example of a manc setting off a bomb 😑

I know you don’t like them, I personally have no issue with someone genuinely fleeing a war zone or a situation where their lives are in danger and looking to us for help.

The ones that aren’t genuine are weeded out (not always I expect), but for every asylum seeker that carries out a crime, my money is on their being just as many locals doing bad shit.

Its easy to blame them for all our ills when the reality is that we’ve got enough anyway.

No one is suggesting thousands are landing every day are they?

PP is hardly flapping: it was one of the election/brexit promises- to control immigration for stringently. If they don't do this, it will be seen as a failure.

I also find it hard to see that much assistance from the EU in preventing these people getting here.

Camps and video footage aplenty showing illegal immigrants trying to board ferries.

Its also not that easy to just go and buy a large dinghy from a seaside trinket shop and stick tens of folk in it. Surely someone is monitoring the purchase, supply and delivery of these boats.
