Mounts Kipper Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 Both sides saying fishing is the big issue, don’t believe that at all, level playing field is surely the only real big issue to overcome. I think deals basically done and only issue is how both parties spin it to the people. Quote

Its therefore important to us as a negotiating tool. Quote

I'm with you on that, I really don't see either side really giving even the slightest fuck about fishing, it's virtually worthless in the grand scheme of things. Regarding how each side spins it, you're right, both sides have to spin it to their people so that it looks like they've got a better deal than is currently in place. The EU need to persuade their members that the UK hasn't got a deal as good as member states....and the UK has to persuade us that we've got a deal that is better than we had before (or at worst case, the same) I'm looking forward to see how that all pans out - to be honest, I'd have thought the sensible thing to do might be push it back 12 months, due to the current issues, but it looks like we possibly don't need to Quote

Spider Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 I guess you'd need to ask a fisherman My hunch is that Boris and co. will fuck them over simply to get any kind of deal over the line. A deal is one thing, a good deal is entirely another. "Yes, we agreed a deal to sell all these ten pound notes for a fiver each". Quote

I didn't know we got bananas from the Ivory Coast, I thought we got them all from South America....not that I know much about it. I'd have thought/guessed this deal would be pretty much made up of Cocoa imports, as I think that's pretty much all they do over there Either way, even though it's not worth anything, at least it's another one ticked off the list, I'll grasp on to any piece of good news at the minute 🙂 Unrelated, but I'm sure I once read that average life expectancy in Ivory Coast is only about 50 years old, which is really shit, it must be a proper grim place Quote
