M and s food is a massive step up on supermarket food excl waitrose. Fact

their craft selection is also pretty decent and reasonably priced

the issue I have is every M&S i've bought beer in, half the cans/bottles don't scan the barcodes as though they haven't been added to the system and you have to wait ages for the staff to get your booze purchase sorted

local farm shop for veg 👍

Fresh as a daisy then. My mates in laws own a farm in east lithium supplying cabbages (not wheelchair versions) and spuds to tesco. The spuds tend to get into  the shelves about 2/3 months after they are picked he told Me. Farm shop you can get them out the ground and on your plate within a day

But it commands a premium obviously

You definitely need to do some memoirs, I reckon they'd make great reading

I've probably got wetbrain - I need prompting to remember what I had for breakfast.

Bran flakes, Moka Pot Latte, walnuts and fresh orange juice.

Also forgot to ask do you qualify for the government backed free shopping at m and s southern domiciled scheme Or are you too far out of London to qualify?

When they used to do those meal deals the wine was fucking atrocious. Some of the worst wine I've ever tasted - and that includes dust covered bottles bought from asian corner shops in the 90s - which had been on shelves under lights for about six years and were tainted with a curry tinge...

Vile (M&S).

Country of Origin?

EU.

Blended.

It's not just any wine, it's fucking blended pigswill wine...

I get a £50 voucher every quarter direct, off my local council, who then claim it back directly from Central Government.

The wife gets one as well

Brilliant that isn’t it. I believe it comes from north west public service budgets but keep that to yourself as it’s an emotive subject.

If I was M&S I’d reduce the own brand ranges and invite designer brands to design bespoke stuff and turn over floor space to them, M&S have consistently shown they’ve not got a clue on menswear.

They did that model at Debenhams but could only really attract 'past their best' or 'never had a best' designers/labels; Jeff Banks, John Rocha, Duffer of St. George, Jasper Conran etc.

The more 'en vogue' designers/labels need an association with Debenhams or M&S like a hole in the head.

They'd be better following the (early) H+M model (gone to shit now like) - but they used to sell the basics of very good quality for reasonable prices, I had a hoodie from there that was good for about six years...

I like my clobber but wouldn't dream of wearing good stuff just lounging about, I'll wear knackered good clobber doing manual work etc. But for just sitting about, well Primarni is fucking universally shit quality so that's out...I reckon' if M&S moved into the 21st Century and had good quality lines of the basics - plain t-shirts, hoodies, joggers, socks etc. they could build from there.

Mantaray is like a poor mans Superdry, it screams "I'm a middle aged man who has given up on life, but I am still a bit trendy"

I doubt M&S will last in its current format, it really is a tired business.

There will be a small number of retailers after the current Armageddon

M&S might be one

Got my m&s thermal base layer thingy on today. Better than any other I've ever had and warm too.

Will get some more.

Fabric in M&S clothes & bedlinen is always good spec they’ve kept the standards from when they bought from U.K. manufacturers while many retailers haven’t got that level of product spec and know and tailor the specification to price point and usually resulting in poor quality. it’s their design and product selection thats terrible.

Did a bit of work sort of in connection with M&S, as well as detergent manufacturerers during my time at UMIST.

They were notorious for fucking over small suppliers trying to get in with them.

What goes around comes around I suppose.

Same here. Some of their basic, essential clothing are suitable for anyone, whatever fashion sense people perceive they have.

The myth will be busted, I’m sure

Well it’s going one of two ways.

saggy chops is facing a mahoosive libel suit and probably being bankrupted from it

or

wee jimmy is away shortly. Rumours abound that her husband (staged clearly) is about to exit as CEO of the snp. Precursor maybe to what’s coming?

I know where my money would be placed

Heard on the news today that M&S might have to start putting tariffs on Percy Pig Sweets.

Maybe the fearmongering was correct. Bet the Brexiteers are regretting their vote now ......
